HOUSE RULESCourse & Clubhouse dress code must

• Collarless or sleeveless T-Shirts.• Any Blue Denim Clothing.• Tracksuits/ shell suits.• Any form of combat/camouflage trousers.• Holiday type shorts (Bermuda, draw string, elasticated etc.)• Football shirts or shirts with predominant numbers on the back.• Hoodies.

The following items ARE permitted on the Course or in the Clubhouse, Lounge & Bar area.
• Collared Shirts or Polo Shirts.• V-Neck and round neck sweaters (with collared or roll neck shirt underneath).• Roll neck sweaters.• Tailored Trousers.• Tailored Shorts.• Golf shoes (must be worn on the course only NOT in the clubhouse).• Shorts with zip or button fly.• Socks that are (predominantly white) knee length, sport or ankle.
NOTE - We ask that shirts are to be worn inside the trousers both on the course and in the
clubhouse. (There may be Social events when shirts will be allowed to be worn outside the trousers).
Children (12 & under) must be supervised at all times and must be accompanied by an adult.
Parents are responsible for the behaviour of their children at all times.
No person below the age of 18 years may sit at the bar, be allowed to purchase alcohol, or to drink alcohol in the clubhouse or on the golf
course.
Dogs and other pets are not allowed in the clubhouse.
Members & visitors are reminded that foul and abusive language will not be tolerated both in the clubhouse and on the course.

HOUSE RULESJUNIORS
All junior members:• Must give way to full members at all times. No person under the age of 18 years may enter the clubhouse when the bar is closed unless accompanied by an adult.
No person below the age of 18 years may:• Purchase alcohol.• Drink alcohol in the clubhouse or on the course.• Sit at the bar at any time.• Play the gaming machines.(Breach of this rule - suspension from the clubhouse at Councils discretion)• Be allowed on the course after dark.
No person below the age of 14 years may:• Be allowed on the club premises or on the course after the hours of 9:30pm in the summer or 7:30pm in the winter. Except when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children are not allowed in the clubhouse after 10.00pm except on social occasions.
Any junior under the age of 18 on the 1st January 2020 is able to play in TOWN LEAGUE MATCHES.
Any junior 18 or over on 1st March 2020 must be offered INTERMEDIATE subscription fees and can
no longer play or pay as a junior.

JUNIOR COMPETITIONS
All Juniors and Intermediates (Boys and Girls) under 18 years of age on January 1st 2020 are eligible to be chosen for the league team.
Jacket and tie must be worn after the matches.
Applications for Intermediate membership from Junior members my only be granted at the councils discretion, once a handicap of 9 or below is attained.

BUNKERSBefore leaving a bunker, a player should carefullyrake or smooth over all holes and footprints madeby him/her therein.
RESTORE DIVOTS AND PITCHMARKSThrough the green a player should ensure that anydivot is replaced at once and pressed down, also to repair any damage to the putting green made by the ball or the player is carefully repaired.
DAMAGE TO GREEN & SURROUNDING AREA(Flagsticks, bags etc.)Players should ensure that when putting down bags or the flagstick, no damage is done to the putting green or surrounding area and that neither they nor their caddies damage the hole by standing too close to it handling the flagstick or in removing the ball from the hole. Removing a ball from the hole by the use of a clubhead is not allowed. The flagstick should be properly replaced in the hole before the players leave the putting green.
DAMAGE THROUGH PRACTICE SWINGSIn taking practice swings players should avoid causing damage to the course, particularly the tees, by taking divots.
ETIQUETTETrolleys must not be taken onto greens or tees. Trolleys must be taken around the outside of the greenside bunkers, never the greenside of the bunker.

GENERAL RULESTHE CAPTAIN SHALL BE AFFORDED THE COURTESY
OF THE FIRST TEE AT ALL TIMESOn men’s competition days, non competitors may not commence play until 30 minutes after the last tee time of the competitions. On non competition days the ladies may commence play at any time. Winter League matches are classed as official competitions.
Tuesday of each week is Ladies Competition Day and Lady Competitors MUST be given priority during competition times.Junior members must, at all times give priority to adult members.On non competition days a ball may be placed in the chute only if all members of the match are present on the tee and checks are made that no one has booked through the BRS system.Players commencing a round at No 10 tee cannot drive off if:- players are on No 9 green or players can be seen on the 9th fairway or around the 150 yard marker from the 10th tee.N.B. Players cutting in at this hole or any other must not hold up play of the players behind. They must immediately call through the players playing a full round.Practising : All practising to take place on the practice area. Any member wishing to play a practice round on the course is limited to the use of two golf ballsPractising on the 18th green or on numbers 1 &10 and 18 fairway is strictly prohibited.Speed of the course - Non competition Mon - Thurs - Two Ball. Fridays and Weekends - Fourball or as determined by competition. No 5 balls and above are allowed at any time.N.B A single player has no standing and must give way to a match of any kind.

Observer / Phoenix matches and knock-out matches must receive priority on the course.

Online booking is available from 12 noon on Friday.
Return all scorecards in all events played at your home club or away at another club including no return.

For the enjoyment of all concerned, the Council wish to bring before the members the following:-If a match fails to keep its place and lose in distance more than one clear hole on the preceding players, it MUST invite players following to pass.Players having lost a ball MUST invite players following them to pass.
BRS SYSTEM WILL LOCKOUT AT MIDNIGHT ON THE DAY PRIOR TO THE COMPETITION. ANY MEMBER DELETING THEIR NAME AFTER THIS COULD BE LIABLE TO A 2 MATCH BAN
NO DOGS ALLOWED ON THE COURSE.

COMPETITIONS & CONDITIONSTHE CAPTAIN’S PRIZE
There will be six qualifying rounds with the 18 best nett and 4 best gross qualifying in each round. (regardless of division) The best gross qualifiers must break 80. In the event of insufficient gross qualifiers the number of best nett qualifiers will increase accordingly. There will be four exemptions making a total of 136 playing for the Captain’s Prize. In addition there will be four divisional prizes. There will be no non qualifiers competition on the day. All prizes will be presented during the evening dinner on Captain’s Day on Saturday August 8th. No handicap limit. Qualifiers must have played in three Club handicap qualifying rounds before Captains Day. There will also be a Veterans prize for over 65’s. All Captain’s prize winners must attend the presentation to receive their prizes. (Captains Prize, Veterans and Best Gross)
PRESIDENT’S DAYThe competition is medal play over 18 holes. No handicap limit. All competitors are invited to the President’s Dinner and prize presentation which will follow completion of the competition at 7.30 pm. Winners are requested to attend to collect prizes. Nett, Gross plus 2 Veterans, over 65,over 75.The Vardon Trophy will be awarded to the player with the best aggregate six differential scores from all 18 hole stroke play competitions including the first round of the Club Championship.

All trophies are awarded for lowest nett score. Competitors in single competitions must swipe In when the computer system is available - failure to do so will result in invalidation of their score for handicap purposes as they are deemed not to have entered the competition.

COMPETITION RULESCompetitors in all singles qualifying handicap status events must swipe in before commencing play when the handicap computer system is available.
All competitors for all competitions including club and open events require a CONGU active handicap to collect any trophies and any prizes. For open events only other recognised handicaps outside CONGU jurisdiction may be accepted by the committee based on CONGU guidelines.
All members must return at least 3 qualifying scores in a year in order to maintain an ACTIVE handicap in accordance with English Golf Union requirements. In addition to competitions members can utilise the supplementary score facility offered main season and enter 9 hole events when run by committee in the main season. To be eligible to win Club Trophies inc ko’s qualifying scores must have been returned. (not supplementary.)
Please read all notices posted to the notice board and in the professional shop before commencing play. Please read local rules on the scorecard see also page 9.
No member will be allowed to compete in a competition unless his or her subscription has been previously paid (or part of thereof).An entrance fee will be charged for all competitions. This must be paid before the round is commenced. The penalty for an infringement of this rule is disqualification, but the entrance fee must still be paid. In the event of a tie in any competition, a decision will be given according to the Regulations of the Lancashire Union of Golf Clubs. Refer to page 83.

COMPETITION RULESCONGU unified handicap system 2016-18. Members must always consider their playing responsibilities as defined by CONGU regarding their handicap.
The division split will be at Council’s discretion,currently Division 1 Scratch to 9 Division 2 10 to 13 Division 3 14 to 17 Division 4 18 to 28The clubhouse (locker room excepted) is out of bounds to competitors during play in a competition round - penalty - disqualification, unless by special dispensation of the Handicap Committee.
The Competition Committee may postpone any competition if they consider the course unfit for play or the weather unsuitable for playing at anytime before or during the competition.
Prize vouchers to be redeemed in accordance with Club rules, as displayed on notice boards.

IN MEDAL, STABLEFORD, PAR AND BOGEY COMPETITIONS, TIES SHALL BE DECIDED
AS FOLLOWS:-
(a) In competitions over 36 holes or more, on the last 18, 9, 6, 3, 1 holes in that order. If there is still a tie, on individual holes, starting at the first hole of the last round.
(b) In competitions over 18 holes, on the last 9,6,3,1 holes in that order, and if there is still a tie, on individual holes starting at the first hole.
(c) In a handicapped event where the tie is to be decided over less than 18 holes, each competitors handicap shall be apportioned over the relevant number of holes under consideration, eg over 9 holes half the handicap, over 6 holes one third etc.
(d) If there is still a tie after applying the above rules, the tie shall be decided by a “sudden death” play-off.
(e) All disputes shall be settled by the competitions committee, whose decision shall be final.

A qualifying condition for entry into ALL competitions (inc. Winter League), is that the due membership subscription/part subscription must have been paid by the competition date. A member whose subscription is wholly outstanding is not entitled to attend the General Meetings of the club. Any member in arrears of 4 weeks after the due date on any part of their subscription is not allowed to play the course and after 8 weeks of the due date will cease to be a member.To qualify for senior subscription rates a member has to have reached the current statutory retirement age and have been a member for 15 consecutive years.

Insurance/AccidentsMembers are strongly advised to arrange
insurance for loss of or damage to their own property, and for personal liability in respect of injury and damage caused to third parties and their property. Also to cover membership
costs in case you are unfit to play.
AccidentsAll accidents must be reported to the Secretary
and recorded in the Accident Book which is kept behind the bar.
