THE ARCHITECT• Maintaining Budget for Construction

• Selecting appropriate materials to control costs• Monitor the Bidding process

• Act as the Owner’s Representative• Helps owner envision design• Responds to owner’s needs & wants• Confirm work has been completed for payment of contractor

THE ARCHITECT4. Education

• Professional Degree• From a NAAB (Nat’l Architectural Accrediting Board) accredited

school• Bachelors of Architecture (4-5 years of school)• Masters of Architecture (5-6 years of school)• Required degree depends on state of registration.• B.A. or B.S. in Architecture DOES NOT meet licensure

requirements in Maryland• Internship

• 3 years & 700 training units (1 unit = 8 hours)• Monitored by Intern Development Program (IDP) through

NCARB (National Council of Architectural Registration Board)
