K.Jananipriya, II B.Sc-B, attended ‘Summer School for Women in Mathematics and Statistics-2018’ at TATA Institute of Fundamental Research, Bengaluru. Achievements A Two-day State Level Workshop on “Statistical Analysis Using R software”, was organized by the department from 15.02.2018 to 16.02.2018. The workshop was conducted by Dr. V. Gnanaraj , Associate Professor, Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai. The participants were trained about the basic usage of FOSS in Statistical Computing and the Graphical front-ends by R-Studio.

A Personality Development Programme was
organized for the final year Under Graduate students
on 04.08.2017. 125 students were trained by
Mr.R.Mohanraj and Mr.R.Kamalasekaran, Soft Skills,
Erode.
As a part of Extension activity, our final year
Post Graduate students taught the basic concepts of
Mathematics, donated a sub-mersible pump and con-
ducted various games to the school children, on
08.08.2017, at Panchayat Union Primary School,
V.Ramanathapuram, Kavindhapadi.

A Guest Lecture Programme on “Graph
Theory” was organized for the final year Under
Graduate Students. Dr.K.M.Kathiresan, Professor,
Director of Centre for Graph Theory, Ayya Nadar
Janaki Ammal College (Autonomous), Sivakasi, was
the resource person.
Guest Lecture
Our students were undergone an Industrial visit
to Coorg Commodities, Coorg, and nearby places in
Karnataka. 238 students were participated in the visit
from 18.08.2017 to 20.08.2017.
Industrial Visit
A visit to Erode Book Festival’17 was arranged for final year UG
and PG students. Around 167 students were taken to the Book Fair on
10.08.2017 to enrich their interest on reading habit.

A Two-day Workshop on “Documentation using LATEX”
was organized by the department to our Post Graduate Students. It was
conducted from 26.09.2017to27.09.2017. The training was given by
the resource person Mr.S.Parthiban, Assistant Professor, Bishop Heber
College (Autonomous), Trichy. The Workshop was arranged to
introduce mathematical type setting and document preparation system.

of Real Analysis” was arranged on 09.10.2017, for the
Post Graduation Students to understand the behavior of
the real number system. Dr.M.Marudai, Honorary

Guest Lecture
Our department celebrated, 130th Birth Anniversary of
Srinivasa Ramanujan as “Ramanujan Day - An Intra
Departmental Meet”, was conducted on 30.12.2017 by
displaying various mathematical models. Various competitions
were also conducted. Prize winners were honoured by
Dr. M. Eashwaramurthi Professor and Head, Department of
Mathematics, Vellalar College of Engineering and Technology,
Erode. Our department Newsletter was released by our honorable Correspondent, Thiru.A.K. Ilango on that day.
