RECOMMENDATION
INTERODUCTION Acid soils are an important issue and challenge in
this country.
It have adverse effect on soil fertility and crop productivity.
Except some Gangetic alluvial soils, whole Bangladesh are acidic.
The pH range of Panchagarh’s soils is below 4
Randomized Complete Block Design.
There were altogether 18 (6x3) unit plots
Each plot measuring 2. 5m x 4m
Inter-block and Inter-plot spacing were 0 .7/m and 0.5/m respectively
EXPERIMENTAT DESIGN
Fig: Experimental design
The liming material contain 20% Ca 10% Mg
which applied on six different rates.
T1 : Control
T2 : 0.5 t lime ha-1
T3 : 1.0 t lime ha-1
T4 : 1.5 t lime ha-1
T5 : 2.0 t lime ha-1
T6 : 2.5 t lime ha-1
TREATMENTS
T6 • 2.5 t lime ha-1
T5 • 2.0 t lime ha-1
T4 • 1.5 t lime ha-1
T3 • 1.0 t lime ha-1
T2 • 0.5 t lime ha-1
T1 • Control
Dolomite applied by scatter system before the last tillage.
Laddering should be done before scatter dolomite.
Make sure the proper meld of dolomite with soil.
Avoid Excess use of Dolomite.
TREATMENTS
EFFECT OF LIMING ON WHEWT YIELD
Statistically significant effect of liming was found in
Plant height Number of tillers Spike length Grains of Spike Weight of grain Total yield (t/ha)
Plant height
It shows that plant height has changed due to effect of liming.
Number of tillers
Due to the effect of lime application number of tillers has increased.
So, it prove that application of lime increase wheat yield .
EFFECT OF LIMING ON WHEWT YIELD
The yield and yield contributing parameters were higher in limed plots than unlimed.
The % mean yields increase over sites was 29 and 31, 99 and110 and 43 and 40 of wheat, mungbean and maize with the addition of 1 and 2 t lime ha-1, respectively over control.
Addition of dolomite increased soil pH substantially.
CONCLUSION
Liming with dolomite at 2 t ha-1 failed to produce higher yield of wheat and maize compared to 1 t dolomite ha-1.
This research it was proved that 1 t lime ha-1 is the best rate of dolomite for crop production.
Farmers can use 1 t lime ha-1for their crop production in acid soils to reduce soil acidity and get potential yield of crops.
