Russland als Auftraggeber nicht genannt - aber nahe liegend Nach Angaben von Angehörigen wurde den Männern eröf fnet, dass gegen sie wegen Spionageverdachts ermittelt werde. September 2001 haben Flughäfen weltweit ihre Sicherheitsmassnahmen massiv verstärk t. Terroristen versuchen seither mit immer neuen Methoden, diese zu umgehen. Eine Idee: Sich den Sprengstoff direkt in den Körper zu implantieren. D enn mit den heutigen Methoden ist Sprengstoff im Körper nicht nachweisba r. Sich den Sprengstoff gleich in den Körper zu operie ren, ganz neu ist diese Methode nicht. Bereits letztes Jahr hatte es in Gro ssbritannien Berichte gegeben, wonach Al-Kaida genau diese Möglichkeit pr üfe. Die «Bombe im Körper» ist offenbar eine direkte Reaktion auf die Einführung von Ganzkörper-Scannern. Ein neuer Gesetzentwurf will die Schmier geldströme im FSB stoppen. Den Tschekisten, wie die Beamten des Inlandsgeheimd ienstes FSB traditionellerweise genannt werden, drohen künftig verstärkte Überprüfungen sowie ein Verzicht auf Auslandsimmobilien. Das geht aus einem Gesetzesentwurf der Regierungspartei „Einiges Russl and“ hervor, der zurzeit in der russischen Staatsduma verhandelt wird. Nach Ansicht von Experten soll damit die Korruption im Geheimdienst bekämpft werden. Alle FSB-Leute müssen sich künftig einer Vielzahl m edizinischer und psychologischer Tests unterziehen. Verkauft haben. Nun drohen bis zu 30 Jahre Gefängnis sowie eine Geldstrafe von bis zu 5 Millionen US-Dollar. U m die drohende Strafe zu mildern hat der Mann nun gestanden. Mit einem endgü ltigen Urteil wird jedoch erst im Jahr 2013 gerechnet. Heute morgen meldete die US-Justiz laut crn.de eine n “Durchbruch bei den Ermittlungen”. Demnach soll nun klar sein, dass der Mitarbeiter eines Apple-Zulieferers jahrelang vorab Produktneuheiten an Börsenspekulanten und Medien verkauft haben soll. According to government and media reports, the attack team consi sted of eight or nine militants who were reportedly wearing suicide vests in addition to carrying other weapons. At least three of the attackers deto nated their vests during the drawn-out fight. Afghan security forces, assist ed by International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), needed some eight hours to clear the hotel of attackers. David Petraeus sailed through the S enate Thursday in a vote of 94-0 to serve as the next CIA director. The vote reveals the deep congressional support Pet raeus enjoys on both sides of the aisle. Petraeus, a West Point graduate , is widely known for leading the troop surge in Iraq ordered by Presiden t George W. Bush and for overseeing the U.S. mission in Afghanistan.


A handful of senators took to the floor before the afternoon vote to praise Petraeus. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said Petraeus had “incredible leadership” in leading the military strategy in Ira q. “I don’t believe that in my life, which has been bl essed to know many outstanding military leaders of all branches of ser vice, that I have ever quite encountered a military leader – or a civilian leader, for that matter – with the combination of charisma and intellect th at General Petraeus possesses,” McCain said on the floor shortly before the voting, noting that he rarely speaks about nominees but that Petraeus’s nomination to the CIA was an extraordinary circumstance.

Brazil had several government and pr ivate sector websites knocked offline and their Army personnel database w as hacked with information posted online. Colombia’s Senate websit e was defaced. Peru had police information stolen. Chile was threatened for its monitoring of social networks. Information about El Chapo’s locat ion in 2009 was leaked from an Arizona police database, and it turns out t he US had not previously shared that information with Mexico. Some of these events were global. The international group LulzSec was responsible for the leaks out of Arizona and had th reatened to hack Brazil government websites. The group Anonymous was behind threats against Chile and Peru. While Latin America should do more to sec ure their websites and cooperate at the global level to prosecute cybercri me, these incidents were the least damaging.

(bstu) In dieser Woche vor 30 Jahren, am 26. Juni 1 981, wurde das letzte Todesurteil der DDR an Dr. Werner Teske in Leipzig vollstreckt. Teske war Hauptmann der Hauptv erwaltung Aufklärung (HV A) des Ministeriums für Staatssicher heit (MfS) der ehemaligen DDR, die für die Auslandsspion age zuständig war. Teske wurde für einen geplanten Über tritt in den Westen mit dem Tode bestraft.


Biografie: Werner Teske wird im April 1942 in Berli n geboren. Er studiert an der Humboldt-Universität Volkswirtschaft und läs st sich 1967 als überzeugter Kommunist von der Staatssicherheit als inoffizieller Mitarbeiter anwerben. Zwei Jahre später wird er vom MfS als hauptamtlicher Mitarbeiter der HV A verpflichtet. Die Umstellung v on der wissenschaftlichen zur geheimdienstlichen Arbeit fä llt Teske, laut Beurteilung des MfS, schwer. Zudem schließt seine Tätigkeit beim MfS ein wissens chaftliches Arbeiten an der Universität aus. Teske nimmt das in Kauf, doch es frustriert ihn mit den Jahren. Ab Mitte der 70er Jahre denkt er darübe r nach, in den Westen zu fliehen. Dienstliche Unregelmäßigkeiten häufen sich . Teske nimmt geheimdienstliche Unterlagen mit nach Hause - ein V erstoß gegen die Regeln des MfS. Mehrmals hat er die Gelegenheit bei seinen Dienstreisen in die Bundesrepublik, die er im Auftrag des MfS tätigt, d ort zu bleiben. Doch er tut es nicht. Als sein Fehlverhalten entdeckt wird, gesteht er nach langen Verhören seine Pläne. Für das MfS und den Richter a m Militärstrafsenat spielt das bei der Urteilsfindung ebenso wenig eine Rolle wie sein Motiv.

Documentation can be scarce, vague, and misleading, and very difficult for the scholar to access, especially in the Canadian c ontext where government records can be closed to researchers virtually fore ver or extensively excised when they are released. September 2011 Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt Die SCHIRN KUNSTHALLE führt in einer Gruppenausstellung in die geistige Welt der Geheimgesellschaften und deren Mechanismen Geheimgesellschaften mit ihren verborgenen Riten, ihrem geheimen Wissen und exklusiven Mitgliederkrei s faszinieren die Menschen seit jeher. Sie reichen vo n harmlosen Bruderschaften bis zu mächtigen Verbänden mit eigennützigen finanziellen und politischen

Absichten. Vor allem in Krisenzeiten liefern sie ve rstärkt Ersatzwerte für die herrschenden politischen, gesellschaftlichen un d technologischen Ordnungen. Die Ausstellung „Geheimgesellschaften. W issen Wagen Wollen Schweigen“, die vom 23. Juni bis 25. September 2011 in der Schirn zu sehen ist, geht der Frage nach, inwieweit Geheimgesellsch aften gewisse Mechanismen zeitgenössischer Kunst widerspiegeln, u nd zeigt, wie ihre Riten und Symbole umgekehrt immer wieder von Künstlern th ematisiert werden. In ihrer eigenen Welträtselhafter Zeichen folgt die Au sstellung durch einen labyrinthartigen Parcours dem Geheimen und offenbar t mit mehr als 100 Arbeiten – darunter Gemälde, Fotografien, Skulpture n, Filme und Installationen – skurrile und verblüffende Entdecku ngen. Das Klagenfurter UNIKUM nimmt dieses düstere, vom Historiker Werner Koroschitz sorgfälti g recherchierte Kapitel zum Anlass für eine Kunstaktion am Villacher Hausbe rg.

ACIPSS-newsletter-commentary : Vom Hausbergverbot zur "Judenhütte" Die öffentliche Berichterstattung zur Ausstellungse röffnung hat mich veranlaßt, unmittelbar nach meiner Rückkehr vo n einem Kongreßbesuch in Berlin, den Wanderweg zum Zehner-N ock am Dobratsch zu gehen. Der Weg dorthin ist mit Wegtafe ln bestückt, welche auf das Schicksal der jüdischen Mitbürger in Kärnten und deren "Hausbergverbot" am Dobratsch erinnern soll. Diese Wegtafel oder Wegstationen, welche an das traurige Schicksal dieser Menschen erinnert, ist schon sehr beeindruckend. Di e Zehner-Hütte, welche zur dort stattfindenden Ausstellung s ymbolisch als "Judenhütte" bezeichnet wird, offenbart eine nochma ls größere Überraschung. Ohne Übertreibung: Die künstlerische Raumgestaltung der Ausstellung ( oder Installation wie es jetzt of t genannt wird) ist ob ihrer Wirkung und expressiven Qualität atemberaubend. Die Panoramafenster werfen reichlich Licht auf die geweißten großen Wandflächen, auf die in schwarzer Schrift angebrachten wandfüllenden Biographien Kärntner Jud en in Deutsch und in Hebräisch, sowie auf die Symbole an der Wand (von der Minora, über die Fahne von Zion, über das Photo des Inneren einer Synagoge und das Photo der Enkelin von Rifka), auf die beiden roten eisernen Querbalken (Traversen) mit der Minor a im Osten. Nicht zuletzt der herrliche Blick auf die majestäti sche Gebirgswelt ist überwältigend und einmalig. Es ist ein großartiges Ereignis, auf das ich die zahlreichen a usländischen Gäste in Villach aufmerksam machen werde, auf ein w ichtiges Zeugnis des weltaufgeschlossenen Kärntens von heute . Die künstlerische Gestaltung lag in den bewährten H änden des Herrn Logar (seinen Namen sollte man sich merken). Natürlich war dies alles nur möglich dank des Engagements des Universitätsvereins Unikum (Klagenfurt), der Stadt Villach (mit Bürgermeister Manzenreiter an der Spitze), der IKG Graz und des Österreichischen Alpenvereins, Sektion Villach. Den Leserinnen und Lesern dieser Zeilen möchte ich empfehlen, es sich nicht entgehen zu lassen, diese großartige und einmalige Ausstellung in der Villacher Bergwelt anzusehen. (Prof. Dr.phil. Dr.h.c. Ein weiterer literarischer Bestseller, der dieses Jahr noch ins Kino kommt: Dame, König, As, Spion. Vielen dürfte der gleichnamige Agententhriller von John le Carre noch gut im Gedächtnis sein, handelt er doch von der atemlosen Suche nach einem Spion in den eigenen Reihen zur Zeit des Kalten Krieges.


Nun ist bei 'Hollywoodreporter.com' der erste offiz ielle Trailer von Dame, König, As, Spion aufgetaucht. Mit von der Partie rund um die Suche des Spions sin d Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Tom Hardy, Mark Strong und Ciaran Hinds. Universal und Focus haben die Rechte für die Adapti on des Bestsellers von John le Carre aus dem Jahre 1974 während der Berlin ale erworben. Produziert wird das ganze von Working Title und Studiocanal, d ie das Projekt finanziert haben. Laut dem 'Hollywoodreporter' ist das Projekt Dame, König, As, Spion von Regisseur Tomas Alfredson eines der begehrtesten Ei gentümer auf dem momentanen Filmmarkt. Vielleicht nicht zuletzt, wei l das Drehbuch von Bridget O'Connor (" Die Drei Musketiere (2011)") un d Peter Straughan ("Eine offene Rechnung", "Männer, die auf Ziegen starren", "New York für Anfänger") geschrieben wurde. Auf atemraubende Spionjagd geht es ab dem 10. Novem ber 2011 in den deutschen Kinos.

Die Festspiele Reichenau präsentieren ein neues Theaterstück von Nicolaus Hagg über die größte Spionage-Affäre der k&k Monarchie, über die spannen de und faszinierende Lebensgeschichte eines genialen Offiziers, der seine militärischen Ideale verkaufte , weil er wegen seiner Homosexualität erpressbar war. Aus einfachen Verhältnissen in Lemberg/Galizien

stammend, machte Alfred Redl eine erstaunliche Karr iere aus eigener Kraft. Bereits nach der Kadettenschule brach er die Bezieh ungen zu seiner Familie ab und fand im Militärdienst seine wahre Bestimmung . Die zweite Seite seiner Persönlichkeit wusste Alfre d Redl geschickt geheim zu halten. Seine intime Veranlagung galt zu dieser Zeit als sexuell abwegig, strafbar und bedeutete einen Ausschluss au s dem Militär. Er fand einen Weg, insbesondere bei seinem langjährigen jun gen Gefährten, Stefan Horinka, eine Verwandtschaft vorzutäuschen, sodass das häufige Zusammentreffen mit ihm dem Generalstab nicht auffä llig schien. Redls verborgene Leidenschaft überstieg aber bald seine f inanziellen Möglichkeiten – und so kam es dazu, dass er in die Fänge des russischen Geheimdienstes geriet, der ihn zur Spionage erpress te.
