About the Author

Zhou Yueyue is a Chinese language and Putonghua teacher at NTK. She has

Since the founding of NTK in 1996, we’ve been focused on two primary goals: to helpstudents develop academically into well-rounded individuals and to assist them in beingaccepted into the top universities of their choice. IB Diploma Chinese Language B Study Guide 是一本專門針對 IB

中文考試的應試教材。本書由德勤教育集團中文團隊的資深教師編

寫,目的在於幫助考生在短期內梳理和強化所學的中文知識,並熟習

IB 中文考試的試題結構、考試形式,讓考生的考試成績能在最短時間

內得以最大程度的提高。

本書根據 IB 中文考試試題結構,共分為考試說明及試題回顧、應

第一章 考試說明及試題回顧

1、閱讀理解部分

卷一為閱讀理解部分,共四篇文章,滿分為 40 分,考試時間為 90

分鐘。試題分為兩類:第一類為“閱讀短文並回答問題”,第二類為

“根據所給的文章及要求寫一篇作文”。

第一類試題包括了判斷題、選擇題、問答題及選詞填空等,都屬

於較為常見的閱讀理解題型。

第二類試題要求學生根據所給的文章及要求,完成至少 120 字的

短文。其評分取決於考生能否理解所給文章的內容,並恰當地運用文

章的材料完成短文。

回顧以往閱讀理解的真實試題,無論是 HL 還是 SL ,第一類試題所

選擇的文章以記敘文和說明文為主,也考察考生對應用文的理解,如

採訪稿、新聞稿等;第二類試題以議論性的文章為主,要求考生就某

一問題發表自己的看法。

SL 所選的文章篇幅約 400 字,語言比較淺顯,問題也很明確;HL

所選的文章篇幅約 500 至 600 字,內容較 SL 複雜,但題目設置基本上

與 SL 相同。因此,先仔細閱讀題目,再根據問題重點閱讀文章,是一

種比較有效率的答題方法。

2、寫作部分

卷二為寫作部分,滿分為 30 分,考試時間為 90 分鐘,要求考生

從所給的題目中選取一個題目完成短文。SL 要求字數至少為 300 字,

HL 要求字數至少為 480 字。

評分標準中規定,IB 寫作部分將從語言、表達技巧及思想內容三

個方面作出評價。語言方面主要考察語法結構、詞語運用和字體,當

然語言的流暢程度也是考察的一個重點;表達技巧方面主要考察基本

修辭手法的運用;思想內容方面則要求考生在寫作時能夠運用題目所

給的材料來支持自己的觀點,符合不偏離題目的要求。

從 2002—2009 年的作文真實試題來看,寫作部分主要考察的是考

生對實際問題的處理能力,因此題目以應用文為主,議論文次之,很

少有記敘性的文章。當中的話題也多與社會時事有關,貼近考生生

活,讓考生易於抒發己見。所以,只要掌握正確的寫作方法和答題技

巧,便能夠取得理想的成績。

3、口試部分

SL/HL 的口試主要分為“單獨口試”和“分組或全班討論”兩個部

分,每部分各佔 15 分。

單獨口試分為三部分:第一部分根據所提供的題目做一個 3-4 分

鐘的口頭報告;第二部分是考生與老師之間的討論,主要考察考生能

否流暢地表達自己的觀點;第三部分是考生之間的討論,討論話題不

得與口頭報告重複,主要為社會問題和全球問題。分組或全班討論的

考察形式多元化,主要內容有全班活動,小組報告,根據錄像進行小

組討論或角色扮演等。

評分標準中規定,口試將從語言(流利程度、語音和語調)、

文化(語氣、措辭及交流是否自然流利)和信息(想法、觀點是否清

晰)三個方面來考察。

由於口試是校內評分的項目,每所學校都有自主出題和評分的權

利,因此,該部分的歷年真實試題並不統一。不過,雖然每所學校的

都圍繞着青年問題、社會問題和全球問題展開。

The IB Chinese B Paper 1 reading comprehension section consists of fourtexts. The full mark for this section is 40% and the exam duration is 90minutes. There are two types of exam questions in this section: Type 1includes “short texts and short questions” while type 2 requires students to“write an essay based on a given text”.

Type 1 questions include true/false, multiple choice, short questions, and fillin the blank questions. These are the common types of questions for readingcomprehension.

Type 2 questions require students to complete a short essay of at least 120words within 30 minutes, based on the requirements of a given text. Theassessment criteria evaluate whether students are able to understand thegiven text and use suitable material from the text to complete a short essay.

Based on past exam questions of IB Chinese B HL and SL reading section,the selected texts for type 1 questions are mostly narrative and expositorytexts, though technical texts such as news reports and news articles are alsoused. However, most type 2 questions are based on argumentative texts andstudents are required to express their own opinions.

For Standard Level, the length of the selected texts are about 400 words.Those texts are relatively simple and their questions were also clear. As forHL, the selected texts are about 500-600 words long and are morecomplicated than those of SL in terms of the use of language. Yet the formatof the questions is basically the same as that of SL. As a result, studentsshould make sure that they understand the questions first and then read thetext carefully with the questions in mind.

The IB Chinese B Paper 2 consists of a writing component. The full mark is30% and the exam duration is 90 minutes. Students are required to chooseone topic and compose one short essay. SL requires at least 300 words whileHL requires at least 480 words.

The IB assessment criteria specify that the writing section should beassessed in terms of the use of language, ways of expression, and contents.The use of language focuses on the grammatical structure, use of words,handwriting, and particularly fluency in writing. The assessment for ways ofexpression covers the basic rhetorical skills. As for contents, students areexpected to use materials from the given text to support their viewpoints.They should focus closely on the topic and avoid writing an off-topic orunfocused essay.

Based on past questions of the IB Chinese B SL and HL exam papersbetween 2002 and 2009, the assessment for the writing section primarilyfocus on students’ ability to deal with actual problems. As a result of this,the types of essays that students wrote were mostly technical orargumentative essays and they were rarely asked to write narrative essays.Furthermore, those essay topics were related to current affairs and closelylinked to the students’ everyday life, which encouraged them to express theirown opinions. Students can achieve excellent scores if they can firmly graspthe proper answering and writing skills.

The IB SL and HL oral section each consists of two parts: “individual oralexam” and “group exam or class discussion”. Each part is 15 minutes long.

The individual oral exam is divided into three parts: Part one includes a threeto four minute oral report based on a given topic. Part two is a discussionbetween the student and the examiner to test whether the student is able toexpress his/her viewpoints fluently. Part three is a discussion among studentson a topic related to social and global issues, and must be different from thatof the individual oral report. There are different ways of assessing studentsduring the group or class discussion, including the use of class activities,group reports, role-playing, or group discussion based on videos.

The oral exam is assessed in three major aspects: Language (fluency,syllable, and intonation), culture (tone, words, and fluency incommunication), and ideas (clarity of thoughts and viewpoints).

Since the oral exam is internally assessed, every school has the right to setits own exam questions and assessment criteria. As a result of this, thecontents of the past exam papers for the oral section varied considerablyeach year. In spite of this, the topics for individual, group, or classdiscussion generally revolve around youth problems, as well as social andglobal issues.
