4 Background
The EN6049 series was developed to meet a mainly Airbus requirement who sponsored and prepared the original specification series. Later the standards and the supporting set of test method EN6059-*** were passed to ASD STAN working group D2S8 for converting to full EN status. PrEN6049-009 is currently still a green paper which is awaiting final editing and publication as a full EN.
Initial approvals to this standard were granted by Airbus using a Quality Test Programme (QTP) agreed by them. This plan differed from the tests programme specified in the product standard and technical specification in that it was agreed that some of the samples to be tested were different from those specified by the technical specification.
The implementation of this QTP was overseen and controlled by Airbus Germany who also issued an approval certificate in 2012, a copy of the certificate is included in clause 3 above.
5 QTP
The Relats initial approval test programme was planned in accordance with the version of the Technical specification prEN6049-001 2001 which was current at the time. The use of a number of alternative test devices were included and are detailed in Table 1 below.

This is a point load when wrapped around a mandrel so testing the smaller sizes get a slightly harder test due to the shorter cord length. No point in testing the other sizes as the materials are the same

The actual test is based upon burning a set volume of material so the sizes it comes from is really not important as the same materials and material ratios are used in all sizes

6 QTR Relats have supplied a complete set of conforming test results in support of their application for approvalof their PERIFLEX DURA NX (DURA1NX) sleeving. These reports are listed in Appendix B

8 Master Design A copy of the frozen master design is attached to this report (see Appendices C D & E). These documents specifying the design and processes details for the manufacturing of the sleeving which form the basis for the approval to EN4674-003 and cannot be amended without the agreement of the ASD CERT board and the mandated body. 9 Manufacturing process All manufacturing process carried out at the company’s facility at Caldes de Montbui in Spain were audited by the MBR on the 27
th May 2014 (see Appendix F).
10 Laboratory The majority of the qualification tests were carried out in the company’s own laboratories. Those tests not carried out in-house were sub-contracted to recognised test laboratories listed in the supplied data package.
