Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Lord, Welcome!
I rejoice in your presence with the Sacred Heart worshiping community as we celebrate our Eucharistic Liturgy for the 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Your
prayerful participation brings blessings to all who gather. I pray this time spent with us will strengthen your faith and lift your spirit. Thanks for joining us! Please note!! We begin our regular Mass schedule next weekend! Thanks for making adjustments in your routine to join us this summer. Hopefully, our return to four Masses on Sunday makes it less challenging to join us for Mass. Stewardship is highlighted this weekend!! Our Stewardship Fair takes place on Saturday evening and on Sunday after each Mass. Come on over to Everett Hall! Explore the variety of opportunities for participating in Parish life. “Stewardship” refers to our Christian call to share our time, talent and treasure with our Church community. The Stewardship Fair highlights the Parish ministries of service wherein you are invited to share your time and talent. I hope you will stop in the hall, enjoy some refreshments and discover an opportunity of service for you. Next weekend, I will present the Parish Financial Report 2013-2014 at all the Masses. The Parish finances, our treasure, is the third aspect of stewardship. In today’s Gospel, Jesus addresses the “chief priests and elders.” Jesus tells them a story and seeks their opinion, “Which of the two did his father’s will?” There are two choices! Was it the son who said, “I will not,” but later changed his mind? He went to work in his father’s vineyard. Or was it the son who said, “Yes,” but later decided not to go and work in the vineyard? The chief priests and the elders answer correctly, “the first.” Jesus is pointing out the primacy of deeds over words. Doing the right thing is more important than saying the right words. We witness to our faith in our deeds. May our deeds reveal to all that we are disciples of Jesus. Be well! God bless,
Fr. McKee
