Summer Reading Reading during the summer is so important in helping children maintain the skills learned

during the year. Reading every day advances current reading levels and creates lifelong readers

and learners.

Activity: Read a book of your choice or from the below recommended list. After reading the book, complete the following assignments:

I. Write a paragraph explaining the main idea or life lesson portrayed in the book. Givespecific examples from the story.

2. Write a paragraph explaining your overall impression of the book. Would you

recommend the book? Why or Why not? Was it what you expected? Why or Whynot? Would you change anything? Why or Why not?
