We hope you have made plans to attend and are as excited as we are about this year’s event. In the last several Actiongrams, you’ve read about what to ex- pect August 4-8 in Scottsdale. In this edition, you’ll find all the last-minute details – from the theme for the Famous Wel- come Party, to the times and topics for each session. Now that you are ready logistically for the AMS, I’d like to offer some other meeting-prep suggestions. Take time to get to know your peers at this meeting. We talk about the net- working opportunities, a phrase that sometimes gets over- used. But the people around you at AMS, are the people you will likely spend the majority of your career working with in some way or another. Take time to renew acquaintances and listen to each other. Most importantly, when it comes to meet- ing new people—shake hands, look each other in the eye, and build lasting relationships. We say it again and again, but it’s about the people! And the people you meet through LPC and AMS are amazing. Speaking of the people, there are a few I would like to thank as I prepare to retire from my position as your presi- dent. At the top of the list and always there to support LPC, is Diane Johnson, LPC executive director. For twenty years Diane has lead LPC and helped it to grow into the organiza- tion of today. A group I’ve grown to respect for their dedica- tion and professional- ism certainly is the Ex- ecutive Team and the Board of Directors. These folks support ag, support LPC and support each other, in a way that makes me so proud to be a part of the team. I would like to thank our committee chairs and members that work so hard behind the scenes to get the job done. Often times their work isn’t in the spotlight, but their contributions provide the energy to accomplish LPC goals. And most importantly, I would like to say thanks to each and every one of you—the LPC member- ship. You are the reason LPC exists today. Professional devel- opment and networking are important. And being able to share your passion with others of a like-mind, simply en- riches us all. As I wrap up here, I would like to leave you with this thought: be courageous and kind, brave and humble, and bold and teachable. I cannot begin to share with you the true honor it has been for me to serve and partner with you. Thank you for the opportunity, and I look forward to see- ing each and every one of you at AMS!
