ACTIVATE YOUR SPIRITUAL POTENTIAL GET TALKING As you think about your life, who is one person who you knew believed in you? How did you know they believed in you? MESSAGE HIGHLIGHTS Why do we miss our potential? Fear the unknown, Underestimate what we have, Feel Insecure, Don’t really known or trust God Maximizing your spiritual potential Ø Pay attention to your story Ø Experiment Ø Team up- get feedback Ø Step away from sidelines-and trust God to guide your steps DIG IN Read Exodus 4:1-5, 10-13 In verses 1-2, Moses is afraid no one will listen or believe him, can you relate with Moses when it comes to self doubt or fears? What concerns/ fears do you have about getting involved more fully in God’s mission? God created us in His image with unique strengths and weaknesses, share a time when exercising your God-given strengths made you feel alive and encouraged (and maybe even positively impacted someone else). Was there ever a time you can remember when you didn’t step forward because of insecurities and fears? When we let fear stop us from moving forward, what does that say about how much we know or trust God? What does our connection with God have to do with our forward movement? Read Roman 12:6-8, 1 Peter 4:10; Eph. 4:12-13 As you look at these verses, what are some of the gifts you think you might have? (even if it wasn’t listed there) What do the verses say about using our gifts? What is our ultimate goal in using our gifts (1 Peter) When maximizing your spiritual potential, we should not only consider our gifts but also our life experiences. What life experiences have you seen God work through to encourage another person or impact your group? What keeps you from fully utilizing the gifts God has given? What would need to change or what steps would you need to take to start using your gifts? How can the group encourage and support you? If you’re not involved in a ministry currently, what is holding you back? BIG IDEA: Activate your potential by stepping into God’s mission NEXT STEPS It is so easy to see potential in others but often times it is hard to see it in ourselves. But our all-knowing and loving God sees so much potential in each one of us. HE SEES POTENTIAL IN YOU!! If we allow Him, God wants to use the good and bad parts of our personalities and life experiences to build up the body of Christ and expand His kingdom on earth. Are you standing on the sidelines watching, afraid to get into the game? What would it take for you to take a step in, or forward? Prayer Lord, thank you that we have called us to more. Help us to enter into the process that you have for each one of us and follow your lead as we take next steps toward all you have for us.
