Avenues East is a subsidiary of the Avenues Group and an
independent charity which has been making a difference to
the lives of disabled people for over 30 years.
We support people across the East of England living with
disabilities, illness or injury to live the best lives possible.
Our services include:
Supported living
Community support
Specialist acquired brain Injury support
We work to provide people with the opportunities to play an
active part in the local community and to help them recognise
their equal right to take part in all aspects of everyday life.

Active Lifestyles Service
Our Active Lifestyles Service operates throughout Suffolk.
It encourages and enables people of all ages who have a
disability to take part in activities that, as well as being fun, helps
to improve health, wellbeing, social skills and independence.
We do this by organising a range of leisure, sport and social
activities throughout the year.
Service registration
To access our range of Active Lifestyles Services you are
required to complete the registration and self assessment form,
and pay an annual subscription fee of £15.
Paying for your Active Lifestyles Services
On registration you can set up a direct debit to pay for
everything that you wish to access.

Teaming Up supports and enables people with disabilities and
additional needs to access a variety of age appropriate leisure,
recreational, social and well-being activities within their local
community. This aids development in personal, social and life
skills with peers of their own age.
Teaming Up Social Groups run fortnightly and provide disabled
people with the opportunity to take part in a range of activities
at a variety of leisure and entertainment venues for example:
bowling, cinema, meals at local restaurants, swimming, visiting
places of interest and much more.
Session cost
Fees are charged on a session by session basis and can be paid
via direct debit from your bank account on a monthly basis.
Social Groups

Teaming Up social groups (ages 10 to 15) run on Saturday
mornings twice a month and support/enable disabled children
and young people to have lots of fun whilst socialising with
friends.
Each session offers high quality activities that take place at
a variety of leisure and entertainment venues for example
bowling, cinema or just meeting up with friends.

Teaming Up social groups (ages 16 to 25) meet weekday
evenings twice a month at a variety of leisure and entertainment
venues.
The aim of these sessions is to meet new friends, gain confidence
and independence, develop skills, such as money handling, and
to have fun!
Sessions include a varied range of activities including bowling,
cinema, theatre, meals at local restaurants, swimming, visiting
places of interest and much more.

School/College Holiday Day Activites & Trips
Teaming Up Day Activities & Day Trips
As part of our Teaming Up project we run day activities and day trips
during school/college holidays for children and young people aged
10-25.
All information of these are included in the Teaming Up programme
of activities, which is sent to you once your social group registration
has been received.
Teaming Up Day Activities run
during the school holidays and
provide an extensive and varied
range of venue based activities
which include accessible sports,
arts and crafts, dancing, music,
visits from outside agencies,
community outings and more.
Teaming Up Day Trips
run during school/college
holidays to support disabled
young people to enjoy
new experiences within
places other than their
home town.
The use of public transport is
encouraged when possible.
Examples include: trips to
Cambridge, Norwich etc.

Daytime Activity Groups
Daytime Activity Groups provide weekly daytime activities that
enable people with disabilities and additional needs to have a
good day, keep active, learn new skills and to maintain
friendships and social contacts.
Run from local community bases, the days enable disabled
people to take part in a range of venue and community
based activities, for example; arts and crafts, dancing, music,
accessible sports, leisure and recreational activities, group
activities, visits from outside agencies and outings in the local
community.

ITFC Match Assistance
ITFC Match Assistance enables people with a disability to watch
Ipswich Town home matches.
We support people who require assistance to watch Ipswich
Town matches at Portman Road who do not already have their
own personal assistant or carer to accompany them to the
game.
Fixture information & prices will be sent on request.

Disability Sport
The Disability Sport Project works to increase the number of
disabled young people and adults regularly playing sport
across Suffolk by enabling them to access the
sport of their choice.
We assist local sports clubs to break down barriers
that stop people with disabilities taking
part in sport, whilst also supporting individuals
to try whatever sport they choose.
