    Fibreglass reinforcement elements

    These are extruded elements formed from glass f i laments and

    polyester res in , of fer ing a mechanical performance s imi lar to steel ,

    yet are s ignif icant ly l ighter to handle. They reinforce the excavated

    face, and can easi ly be broken out when excavation continues. Hol low

    P.e.r. Ground

    In problematic ground where achieving reinforcement or anchorage

    performance is d i f f icu lt , P .e.r . Ground can be used; a sheath around

    the reinforcement bar contains the in jected mortar, which compacts

    the surrounding ground, improving the adhesion and resistance to

    pul l -out. P .e.r . Ground also reduces grout loss and wash-out.

    Self-dril l ing bolts and steel anchors.These are used to contro l and/or reduce the

    convergence of the excavated tunnel sect ion.

    The reinforcement range comprises steel anchors,

    post-tensioned f ibreglass bolts , sel f -dr i l l ing rock

    bolts and high-strength steel bars.

    L ine 9 is 43 km long and runs

    from the El Prat airport in twodif ferent d irect ions, with 43

    stat ions.

    The f inal l in ing for the tunnel is

    made of precast concrete, with a

    combination of conventional steel

    re in fo rcement and Wi rand steel

    f ib res (FF1 and FF3) .The total product ion quantity

    amounts to 450,000 m3 of f ibre

    reinforced concrete. Maccaferr i

    dosing systems have been

    especial ly designed and instal led

    in order to ensure precise f ibre

    quant i t ies and qu ick batch ing .
