ACTIVITIES – WORKSHOPS OF THE PROJECT

“TOGETHER WITHIN”

DESCRIPTION-TARGET SETTING

This project is funded by the Greek NGO Programme “We are all Citizens” which is part of the EEA & Norway Grants for

Greece. The Bodossaki Foundation is the Fund Operator of this Programme. The Programme aims to strengthen civil

society and enhance the contribution of NGOs to social justice, democracy and sustainable development.

“DINING TABLE”

DESCRIPTION

Dining one to two times a week throughout the project (number of actions 28) concerning all the

beneficiaries. The "Dining Table" will be taking place at

our establishments by using catering services

selected restaurants in the city

one or two of these actions is scheduled to be carried out in a professional kitchen where our

young people will prepare the food of the "table" themselves, with the guidance of a

professional chef

OBJECTIVE

The "Dining Table" aims at

partial satisfaction of the basic needs of the beneficiaries, such as nourishment,

the promotion of dialogue

encouraging the exchange of views and intercultural communication in a relaxed and

friendly environment, outside the formal framework of the “class”

and, ultimately, the socialization and the removal of a sense of exclusion that these

young people may be experiencing

For this reason it has been described in the project as Socializing Day.









CULTURAL ACTIVITIES

DESCRIPTION

Visits to museums such as the Acropolis Museum and the Archaeological Museum of Patras Go to the theatre to watch plays Visits to archaeological sites such as the Mycenaean settlement in Voudeni Visits to galleries (exhibitions of painting, sculpture, photography, multimedia, etc.)

OBJECTIVE

The cultural activities of the project are intended to put the beneficiaries in touch with cultural events

as an act of

socialization

personal growth

common cultural experience

linkage with the city

enrichment of knowledge in various fields

boost of intercultural tolerance

Through these activities the beneficiaries

will acquire new perceptions in fields that they may have never come in contact before

will creatively reflect and will "re-imagine" their lives

will develop mutual cultural understanding









EMPOWERMENT COUNSELLING

DESCRIPTION

Regular meetings (one to two times per week with the mentors-motivators who staff the project),

regarding the psychological and social support of the beneficiaries.

These actions include

individualised Counselling

and group meetings

either as a stand-alone activity or in combination with other actions such as the “Dining Table”, the

films, the creative activities workshop.

During counselling the beneficiaries will have the opportunity to discuss and to get answers on issues

which concern them in their daily contact with society. The thematic of each meeting will be determined

by both the Consultant and the beneficiaries themselves.

Self-empowerment Counselling is one of the key actions of the project and runs it horizontally and

vertically throughout its duration.

OBJECTIVE

As implied by the title, the primary objective is the empowerment of the self-image of these young

people –which, because of their vulnerable social status, is probably at a very low level – through

their acquaintance with themselves (process of self-concept/self-knowledge)

the boost of self-confidence

communication and problem-solving

socialisation and participation in the Group

the actuation via the empowerment of self-motivation

in order to create the Dynamic Profile of the beneficiaries.









WEB RADIO "LIFE SKILLS"

DESCRIPTION

Creation of a web radio station with the help of mentors around the age of the beneficiaries, in the

context of peer-to-peer learning. The radio will broadcast at least once a month and the beneficiaries

will prepare talk shows and entertainment programs regarding

their personal experiences

their interests

announcements and messages concerning the actions of the project

They will create their own music lists which will be broadcasted on the web radio and will take

interviews from people directly involved in the project; also by people who, because of the activities of

the project, will come in contact with them, such as the actors of a play.

OBJECTIVE

CINEMA WORKSHOP

DESCRIPTION

Introduction to basic concepts of the theoretical framework on films and projection of movies and

documentaries on the basis of thematic modules such as

Work

Social Justice

Education

Migration

Documentaries of cultural, social, historical content

aiming at self-awareness, at least once a month. This activity will be followed by a debate within the

group, coordinated by the consultants-motivators of the project.

CREATIVE ACTIVITIES WORKSHOP

DESCRIPTION

Workshops held at our establishments based on the interests and the needs of the beneficiaries such

as

jewellery creation and design

constructions using various materials

graphic design courses

OBJECTIVE

The creative engagement of the beneficiaries is one of the main objectives of the project, as it offers

emotional uplift

complacency

individual empowerment

creation of positive feelings towards themselves

Furthermore, these activities aim at a practical benefit, as well, that may derive by attending them, for

learning a “craft” can become their employment and bring them economic benefits.









GREEK LANGUAGE WORKSHOP

DESCRIPTION

Greek language lessons at our establishments as a communication language, given the fact that many

beneficiaries know little or no Greek (immigrants). Teaching will be aided by the use of various tools

such as

interactive whiteboard

video

Audio

use of the Internet

theatrical play

warming up activities

board games

The workshops are to be 15 in total, divided into thematic categories such as work, interpersonal

relations, social issues and will include the following modules:

Greek alphabet, reading, writing

asking various information

language of communication in various situations (public transportation, job, doctor, etc.)

giving information about us (origin, age, occupation etc.)

OBJECTIVE

It is obvious that ignorance of the language in the country where you reside results in marginalisation

and social exclusion. The language is the main tool for

social integration

understanding and acceptance of the other

The expression "we don't speak the same language", when we want to emphasize on the fact that

communication is impossible, is not accidental. The aim is the beneficiaries to learn the basic in the

Greek language in order to be able to express themselves, to perceive, understand and ultimately to

communicate, to be able to socialise and to integrate in the community of the city.

DESCRIPTION

English language lessons at our establishments as a communication language. Teaching will be aided

Many beneficiaries know little or no English, the basic knowledge of which is a prerequisite in modern

society to enable the person to follow its evolutionary processes.

The basic learning of the English language will allow the beneficiary to communicate and use the new

technologies and the Internet better.









SOCIAL ECONOMY WORKSHOP

DESCRIPTION

Introduction to the basic concepts of social economy and answers to questions on what it is and how

enterprises operate in this context. These workshops will be held towards the end of the program and will

include

presentation of the basic concepts of social economy

the legislative framework of such enterprises

examples of Social Cooperative Enterprises

OBJECTIVE

These workshops primarily aim to create motive in order for the beneficiaries to become active in the

labour market, via the creation of their own business, so that when the project is finished, and with the

continuous assistance from their mentors, to become part of the labour market and, consequently,

society as a whole.

In addition, the creation of a Social Cooperative Enterprise is one of the broader objectives of the

project in order to ensure its sustainability and will also assist in maintaining the consistency of the

group “Together” that operates within the framework of the project.









COMPUTER WORKSHOP

DESCRIPTION

Learning the basics such as

use of new technologies

The workshop will take place at our establishments and the anticipated number of actions is 15.

OBJECTIVE

The main objective is the beneficiaries to become familiar with computers, and generally with new

technologies, as their use is now a prerequisite both

at a professional level and

in the process of socialization and social integration of the modern human being

The illiteracy on computers is equivalent to marginalization and social isolation, the removal of which

is the key objective of "Together Within". Also, this knowledge will help to the empowerment of the self-

esteem of the beneficiaries.









CREATION OF VOLUNTARY GROUPS

DESCRIPTION

With the synergy of the group “Together” that staffs the project, the beneficiaries will have the opportunity

to create nuclei of active citizens, who, via their voluntary offer, and as a result of their training on

computers, will be able to

make use of the social media

And, generally, actively participate in all activities of the project (dining room, preparing texts for the

website, organization of events for the diffusion of the programme etc.).

In addition, through the social economy workshop, there is the possibility of creating a Social Cooperative

Enterprise which will promote their plans in areas such as

cultural events

peer counselling

OBJECTIVE
