Goal
• The main goal of the Regional Association is to foster required regional cooperation for strengthening agricultural research for sustainable development in Central Asia and the Caucasus.
CACAARI Objectives
• to promote the exchange of scientific and technical know-how and information;
• to encourage the establishment of appropriate research and training programs in accordance with identified regional, bilateral or national priorities;
• to strengthen research organizational and management capability of member institutions; and
• to build cross-linkages with regional and international research centers and organizations through involvement in jointly-planned research and training programs.

Recent Developments
• Dr. Sheraly Nurmatov, former Chairman of CACAARI, nominated as governor of Ferghana region.
• Dr. Abdushukur Khanazarov has been elected as new CACAARI Chairman in Aleppo meeting.
CACAARI Activities
• The last meeting of CACAARY was held on 3 May, 2005 at ICARDA Headquarters in Aleppo, Syria. During the meeting, the progress was reviewed and the future workplan was approved.
CACAARI Activities
• RAIS Meeting took place at Cairo, Egypt, from 10-11 May, 2005. Dr. Manukian was representing CAC Region. Mr. Umid Nazarkulov, Uzbekistan, was also present. First draft CAC-RAIS proposal was technically endorsed by the participants and accepted as a Cairo recommendation.
