Actor Decisions

Actors .. • For my actors, I need actors that has a natural odd style. If the actors have

this it will instantly put him at an advantage over the rest, because naturally the style will fall in place to another odd style. With this difference, it can be played on and shaped into what I want. The actors will have to have experienced in acting and improvisation. The acting aspect is one of the most important factors to make a narrative music video the best it can. I can direct the actors to a certain extent and the best I can, but that last little push and little details would come from improvisation from their personal touch. This will make the video look like reality which is my main intention from the video. I asked a local drama teacher, and she suggested multiple GCSE students she taught which could fit the role. I happened to know them and began to communicate with them.

Matt Vardy – Male Actor

Matt Vardy – Male ActorMatt is an experienced actor, very creative and an artistic individual. He acts, achieving a GCSE, and part taking in projects before. He is very into his art, which has a very creative aspect too. This fits perfectly to improvise in the music video, as he has a creative mind, to come up with new ideas. Also him being into creative art will mean he will be very into the video and get stuck in with no hold backs. His natural style is quite ‘skater’ with baggy clothes, hats and accessories. This is perfect, as these baggy, non-commercial clothes and accessories can be shaped into a ‘hillbilly’ ‘gypsy’ style. It leads away from a typical music video and add the theme I want to represent. I spoke to Matt and expressed the plot and idea, where we would shoot, what he would have to do, and how the end product would look like. He was very intrigued and excited to take part.

Daisy May-Carter – Female Actor

Daisy May-Carter – Female ActorDaisy is also an experienced actor. Achieving a GCSE in drama. Also she has participated in a friends photography project, proving she has camera presents. She now goes to University in Fashion Art. Showing she has a natural interest in fashion and certain styles, which this video relies on. I know Daisy personally and know she goes out and likes to party. So taking from own experiences, from being drunk and partying, she can shape this experience into the theme of my video. Her style is very similar to Matts. She is quite individual wearing baggy clothes, or quite dark styled clothes. This style is perfect, as both their costumes and presents will compliment each other. I spoke to Daisy, and like Matt, she was very interested and excited to take part in this project.

Actors Together..In my video, the acting to make it look reality is key to a successful video. A massive factor in this is the relationship between the actors. When I spoke to them I came to realise they know each other quite well and go out together, they can share similar experiences together and reflect this in the video, as it is quite similar to the video just a different theme and drugs instead of alcohol. From this, I know they will be very comfortable together. If they didn’t know each other it could be awkward, they may hold back on certain directions and also the relationship will seem real and more expressive as they know each other prior to the video.. Which is perfect for the narrative.

Costumes and Make-up ..Their own styles are very similar to my themed costumes. Baggy clothes, non-commercial, dark and accessories. My theme is ‘hillbilly’ ‘gypsy’, looking like non structured outfits but they are. I would play on their styles to shape them more. Add more gold jewellery, make sure they wear baggy clothes which is minimalistic. For example baggy vests/t-shirts/shirts. Make-up wise, I will get Daisy to wear very dark make-up and ask her to go quite messy with it, so it doesn’t look too structured but more natural. I will add darker eye make-up for Matt as the video develops. These pictures are very representative of their style which could fit my theme. These actors fit perfectly for my video.
