1.0 Introduction
1.1 System Overview ACTpro 1520 and ACTpro 1500 are single door IP controllers, the ACTpro 1520 includes an ACTpro 1500 controller with an integrated 12 V DC 2A power supply. The ACTpro 1500 and 1520 controllers can be expanded to 32 doors with ACTpro 120 or ACTpro 100e door stations.
ACTpro 1520 and 1500 Controllers are NOT interoperable with other ACTpro controllers (ACTpro 1000, 2000, 3000 or 4000).
ACTpro 1520 and 1500 controllers include a web server which allows installers and users to manage installations without requiring ACTWin software.
If an installation contains more than one controller (ACTpro 1500 or ACTpro 1520) ACTWin software is required.

6.4 Break Glass Monitoring only The break glass monitoring features only monitors the break glass status and does not remove power form the lock. ACT assumes a double pole break glass unit is used, one pole to disrupt the power to the lock the second pole for monitoring.
When the Break Glass is not activated the B/GL input pin is held low at 0 volts. When the Break Glass device is activated the B/GL input pin will lose the 0 volts (goes high) and report a Break Glass event (Diagram 10). The lock should be wired such that when the break glass is activated power to the lock is removed.

7.0 ACTpro 1500 Controller Status Indicators
Blue: Power
This indicates that the ACTpro 1500 has power.
Blue: Communications
Constant illumination indicates that all enabled door stations are online.
Flashing indicates that one or more door stations are offline.
Red: Fault.
This illuminates to indicate an alarm on the system, possible causes are:
1. Tamper open: ACTpro1500 plastic housing is not closed. In situations where the ACT plastic housing is not being used, connect TAMPER input on the ACTpro1500 PCB to 0V.
2. Break Glass: ACTpro 1500 provides a method to monitor an Emergency break glass switch via the B/GL input. The fault LED will illuminate if the Emergency break glass switch is activated.
3. Mains Fault: ACTpro1500 will accept a mains present signal from a PSU. This is wired into MAINS PRESENT input on the PCB. When the PSU has no mains supply the fault is active.
4. Door Station offline: When one or more enabled door stations is not communicating with the ACTpro 1500 the Fault LED illuminates and the appropriate network communications indicator will flash.
5. Low Supply Voltage: When voltage to the +12V terminal is less than +9V.
6. Fuse Blown: The +12V output on the READER terminals is current limited to provide short circuit protection. The Fault LED will illuminate if too much current is pulled from this connection.

8.0 ACTpro 1520 Controller Status Indicators
Green - AC Ok Indicates that the AC Mains is within specification.
Amber – Powered By Battery Indicates that the battery is supplying the output voltage.
Red - Fuse Fault Indicates electronic output shutdown fuse is active and that no power is being supplied to the load.
The maximum current that the PSU can guarantee is 2A. Beyond this the fuse will trip and the LED will stay on until the load is fully disconnected.

13.0 Backup, Restore and Export database The installer can take a backup of the ACTpro 1500 database and restore at a later date. The installer must login as installer and select the Administration menu. There are two options when taking a backup.
13.1 Backup database Option1: Create Snapshot takes a snapshot of the current controller database; the snapshot is stored in the controller.
Option2: Backup now allows the installer to make a backup which is stored on the PC. The backup file is called act1500_snapshot.dbo. When generating a backup image the controller generates a local snapshot overwriting the previous snapshot.
13.2 Restore database The installer can restore an existing snapshot by pressing the Restore Snapshot button.
To restore the backup from the PC the installer must use an FTP client. The FTP client can be run from the command line (assuming appropriate user security permission) or use an FTP client such as filezilla.
Restore using the command line FTP
1. From the command line, enter ftp followed by either the NETBios name or IP address of the controller.

22.0 Troubleshooting
22.1 Unknown Card The card has not been assigned on the system.
22.2 Access Denied Make sure the User is enabled and has appropriate access rights.
22.3 Door Offline Ensure Door is enabled
Ensure correct address is assigned to the Door Station, using DIP switches.
Ensure the doors network is in a daisy chain wiring configuration.
22.4 Cannot Connect to Controller Step 1: On the 1500 Controller PCB check the Green LINK LED (beside Ethernet jack)
is active; if inactive check the network point is connected to a switch.
Step 2: Ensure IP address has been set correctly (see section 5 for IP Address Configuration).
Step 3: Ping the ACT1500 Controller using • NetBIOS name e.g. “ping act1500-59487” • IP address e.g. “ping 192.168.1.60”
Use the last 5 digits from the NetBIOS label on the PCB as illustrated.
If the problem is not resolved contact the IT department as there may be a problem with the network.

22.5 Defaulting the controller (DIP Switch 2) The ACTpro 1500 has two DIP switches.
• DIP switch 1: “DHCP” is for setting the Static or DHCP address mode.
• DIP switch 2: “Default” is for defaulting the controller or defaulting the static IP address.
22.5.1 Defaulting the controller (DIP Switch 2)
The ACT1500 may be defaulted back to factory settings. This will completely erase the controller memory. All information including card details will be erased and the static IP address will be reset to 192.168.1.60.
To default the ACTpro 1500 controller:
1. Power down the ACTpro1500 controller.
2. Set the Default DIP switch (2) to the ON (right) position.
3. Hold down the Tamper spring.
4. Apply power to the ACTpro 1500 controller.
5. Wait approximately 5 seconds, until the controller confirms default completed by sounding the buzzer.
6. Release the tamper.
7. Power down the ACTpro 1500 controller.
8. Set the Default DIP switch to the OFF (left) position.
9. Re-apply power.
22.5.2 DHCP/Static IP Addressing (DIP Switch 1)
The ACTpro 1500 can be configured to use a static IP address or obtain it’s IP address from the DHCP server,
To change the IP addressing mode:
4. Power down the ACTpro 1500 controller
5. Set the DIP switch to its new position. (Left for Static IP addressing and right for DHCP addressing)

6. Reapply power to the board.
22.5.3 Defaulting the Static IP address
The static IP address can be reset to it’s default value of 192.168.1.60.
To reset the static IP address:
2. Power down the ACTpro 1500 controller
3. Ensure nothing is connected to the tamper input terminal and tamper spring is not pressed otherwise the following steps will factory default the controller losing all information.
4. Set the DHCP DIP switch to the off position.
5. Set the DEFAULT DIP switch to the ON position.
6. Re-apply power
7. Wait approximately 5 seconds, until the controller confirms default completed by sounding the buzzer
8. Remove power
9. Slide the DEFAULT DIP switch to OFF.
10. Re-apply power.
The static IP address can be changed via the web interface or the ACTWin software - see Section 7 on How to change the IP Address.
