Some of the ways that Acupuncture Sydney

uses to treat clients are found in traditional

Chinese medicine. Traditional Chinese

Medicine (TCM) uses very different methods

and thoughts than those used by the western

medical profession. There are many different

techniques used in TCM therapy settings.

There are a lot of different methods used. They

may employ massage, exercise, nutrition,

herbs, acupuncture or moxibustion. These

techniques are very different from the western

way of thinking as it is deeply rooted in a

different culture and philosophy.

Some of the most popular ancient Chinese

healers use methods that are followed and

applied by the professionals at Acupuncture

Sydney. TCM uses various elements from

nature and apply them to conditions in the

body and ways to treat the body in a holistic

way.

They may use terms like cold, dryness, fire,

damp, wind and heat to speak of body parts or

conditions. In TCM a sore throat is not

considered a viral infection but rather an attack

of wind heat. It is not magical, nor is it

primitive; it’s just a different medicinal system.

There are also very differences between the ways Western and Chinese medicine each describe organs. TCM speaks of organs according to the way that they function and how they relate to other organs in the body Acupuncture Sydney and TCM consider the liver as the organ that brings nourishment to muscles, tendons and eyes. However, western medicine does not consider the liver in this way.

According to TCM, there is an energy pathway

from each organ back to its parent organ. For

example, the liver meridian relates to the liver.

Each of the 14 meridians in the body has its

own meridian functionality. These meridians

run throughout the body from toes, fingertips

and to the top of the head.

In TCM the Qi is an important concept too. It is

the Chinese word for energy. Disease occurs in

the body when a person’s Qi is out of balance.

Chinese medicine simply concentrates its

efforts on balancing the Qi in the body. For

those who have too much Qi efforts are toward

reducing it. For those who are deficient in Qi

the efforts are spent to enhance it and evenly

distribute it throughout the body.

There are two types of Qi, acquired and

inherited. Acquired Qi is the raw energy that is

obtained from air, food and water. These are

then converted into energy that the body can

use. Inherited Qi is the type of energy one is

born with. Acupuncture Eastern Suburbs uses

the same lines of thinking as TCM.
