bull Increase in Level 2 beds from 20 of hospitals to 60
Time to Intervene The Resuscitation Council (UK) has based many of its updated Quality Standards for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Practice and Training on the NCEPOD recommendations
Impact
This NCEPOD report has had a clear impact on the provision of resuscitation at out hospital Specifically the recommendation on page 68 that The use of lsquoceilings of treatmentrsquo documentation would facilitate decision-making and clarity of intent Partly in response to this recommendation the Hospital introduced a combined DNACPRCeiling of Treatment (CoT) form in July 2012 We have seen a significant improvement in the completion of these forms Our cardiac arrest rate has decreased from 157 per 1000 admissions in 2011-2012 to 129 per 1000 admissions in 2012-13 (P=020) - although not statistically significant as yet I am expecting this cardiac arrest rate to continue to fall as a result of the CoT form
Impact
Are We There Yet (childrens surgery) ldquoWe welcome your valuable analysis of this vital aspect of health provision for children The report has recommended the development of general paediatric surgical networks We strongly support this approach to organising and providing carerdquo Secretary of State for Health We had a complete review of all

bull There is a planned overhaul of alcohol services within the Trust and certainly this report will provide very useful levers
bull Because of this report I was able to recruit an alcohol liaison nurse the funding for which I lost some years ago and have been trying to get back
bull We have made considerable progress in the acute care of patients with alcohol-related liver disease Specifically far more have ascitic taps performed early so as to detect life-threatening bacterial peritonitis

Reports
bull Increase in Level 2 beds from 20 of hospitals to 60
Time to Intervene The Resuscitation Council (UK) has based many of its updated Quality Standards for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Practice and Training on the NCEPOD recommendations
