B rethren,
We all agree that Freemasonry is a wonderful Fraternity, steep with tradition and filled with many great men in the past as well as the present. Freemasonry also has beautiful ritual which makes us as men, indeed honored to be masons.
However, in the final analysis, the future of Freemasonry is not dependent on these things but on the influence it wields in the life of each and every one of us. If we are to make our society a better place, then we must live and breathe the principles on which this frater-nity was founded on. We must be a doer of the good word and not a hearer only. We must assume our obligations of friendship, morality and brotherly love. If we do not practice these in our daily lives then this are just empty words that we promised during the degrees of becoming a master mason.
If you haven’t been to lodge in some time, come and see what you have been missing. Renew some old acquaintances and make new ones as well. We have plenty of activities as you can see listed in our Trestle Board. Please come out enjoy your fellow brother’s compan-ionship and support our lodge functions.
Hope to see you in Lodge soon.
Sincerely,
Rob PigottWorshipful Master

pyThAGoR As
A s Masons we hear many different schools of thought on the origins of our fraternity. Some say we come from the operative Masons, the builders of King Solomon’s temple, or the Egyptians, or even further back in antiq-uity, to time immemorial. Then there are others who say we are the rem-manents of the Knight’s Templers. But the one that seems to have many connections to our Fraternity is Pythagoras. He was born around 580 B.C. on the island of Samos. Pythagoras dedicated his life to the study of phi-losophy, which means seeker of knowledge. He traveled to Egypt, Chaldea, and into India for the purpose of acquiring knowledge. During his years of study Pythagoras came to believe that reality, including music and as-tronomy could be proved, and understood through mathematics. Numbers are the ultimate reality, the foundation of the universe. These themes are woven and inculcated throughout our three degree’s, and lectures.
The greater advancement we make in mathematical science, the more capable we shall be in considering the ordinary objects of our conception. Pythagoras returned to Greece and established schools in Crotona, which is considered by many to be a model after which Masonic lodges were con-structed. The order of Pythagoras, just like our Fraternity, had three de-grees. The first degree was Novices, then Nomothets, and Mathematicians. Before admission to the order the life and character of the candidate was scrutinized. He was then initiated by taking an oath, and submitting to severe trials of fortitude. After many obstacles he had to encounter, he was permitted to return to the world. The disciples of the order considering him dead performed his obsequies. Sound familiar Brethren? This theory or any of those stated above may have threads of truth in explaining the origin of Free Masonry. It is up to us, Brethren to search for light, let us all be philosopher’s seekers of knowledge, and look to thy self while building that Temple not made with hands eternal in the Heavens.
Respectfully,
Ted D’Annunzio, Sr.Junion Warden
