Why All the Household Dust?Im Keith Meadows, owner and operatorof American Power Vac, Inc. For years,Ive been im-proving ourc o m m u n i t y shealth one fam-ily at a time. Bynow weve allheard the statis-tics: 50% of allillness is a direct

relation to dirtyindoor air andour indoor air isup to 90 timesmore pollutedthan outdoor air.Yet, 90% of thecalls I receiveeveryday arefrom des-perate people complaining aboutdust. They tell me they dust the T.V. on Fri-day, but by Sunday they are pushing the dustout of the way again so they can watch Des-perate Housewives, and none of them knowexactly where its coming from. Well, Imhere to tell you that its not because yourea bad housekeeper, I tell people that by sim-ply having your ductscleaned will drasticallyreduce household dust, and the reason is, your coldair returns.

Cold air returns suck indirty air, and overtime itbuilds up until you have thesame type of debris thatyou would find in yourvacuum bag.

Visit our website atwww.americanpowervac.comfor an actual photo of thedebris that is pulledfrom a typical home.

Cold air returns arealso the reason newhomeowners are experi-encing dust. While yourdrywall was being sanded, your cold air returnssucked all of the dustthrough the system and itsettled on the bottom ofthe duct lines where a littleat a time gets blown backinto your home. To proveit, take a walk down into your basement, look up at the ceiling for thin sheets of tinnailed between your floor joists. These areyour cold air return lines. Give them agood pounding. Youll see puffs of dustseeping out of the edges. That my friends,is the reason you have uncontrollable dustproblems!

This debris cannot be removed withouta professional. Which brings me to my

next point: choosing an air duct cleaningcompany. Most companies use portable

units, which are like a shop vac that youwould vacuum your car with, obviously ab-

solutely useless. Then there arecompanies whoclaim they have at ru c k -m o u n te dsystem. In reality, they have a lowpowered portablesystem attached

inside a van, again, absolutely use-less. Visit ourwebsite for pho-tos of our equip-ment vs. portableor truckmounted equip-ment at

www.americanpowervac.com.American Power Vac has the equipment

that is powerful enough to get the job doneright and that equipment is a Power Vactruck. It is the most powerful equipmentin the industry. This is where the entiretruck is the vacuum and the truck motorpowers the equipment. Youll know its a

Power Vac truck becauseits the size of an ambulanceand when engaged twelvelarge air bags will come outof the roof. What makes thedifference in equipment?Power! To put things intoperspective, your furnacemoves 2,000 CFMs (cubicfeet of air per minute), ba-sically what you feel com-ing out of your register.Truck-mounted equipmentonly moves 4,000 CFMs.American Power Vac movesover 16,000 cubic feet ofair per minute, more thanquadruple the power of anytruck-mounted equipment.Beware of companies us-

ing cheap equipment and ad-vertising cheap pricesmost are unlicensed or ad-vertise that they are li-censed and are not!

Avoid scams by askingfor and confirming all statemechanical license num-bers at mich.gov/bcclicense. Type in busi-

ness name & click on Mechanical Li-cense. American Power Vac is familyowned and were here to help by offeringa

One of the bestcompanies I have ever

had working in my home. They were very

professional and I wasvery satisfied with theirworkmanship and clean

up. I would hire yourcompany again in a

heartbeat, and wouldgladly spread the word to

    family, friends and neighbors. Great

    company you have going.C. Miller,

We are so excited to be voted best of thebest for 2011. Kids Corner is a smaller sizedchild care center that bases our beliefs on thefact that every child is unique in their learningability and style. Therefore we base ourcurriculum and activities around the childrensneeds. It is better to prepare the child for thepath, not the path for the child.

We believe that there are many wonderful

effects of playing and learning in Naturalsettings. In todays society our children arebecoming over exposed to electronic games, computers, internet, television, cell phones, etc.

It is our job as educators and parents to seethat our children have access to experienceswith nature. Many studies have been done thatshow that being in natural environments can helpchildren recall information, help them learncreativity; improve their sense of wonder, andso much more. Contact with nature also helpschildrens emotional wellbeing by helping themunderstand that they are a part of a wider systemof life.

These are some of the effects of playing andlearning in a natural setting:

    1. Stimulates all aspects and stages of childdevelopment

    2. Stimulates informal play experientiallearning, and natural learning cycles.

    3. Stimulates imagination and creativity ina special, boundless way.

    4. Helps children feel good aboutt h e m s e l v e s ,enhances selfesteem.

    5. Providesflexible andf o r g i v i n g

    settings.6. Centers

    children in thee n v i ro n m e n twhere they live.

Kids Cornerprovides a natural outdoor setting on one acreof land. The children are surrounded by trees, rocks, sand, and grass. They experience thewonder of nature and we bring nature indoorstoo. We collect leaves, paint rocks, gather sticksfor houses, and make leaf turkeys. There aremany ways to integrate nature into our lives.

Its really important to get children awayfrom the T.V., the video games and the computerand leave your cell phones at home. We havethe four seasons in Michigan that allow for allsorts of play and learning.

For more information: contact Sue Biddleat (248)814-9096. Or visit www.kidscorner.cc

Question: WHAT THE HECK IS A ROTARY CUP?

Answer:The rotator cuff is a group of four small muscles that surround the shoulder joint and has many different functions.

Its primary job is to stabilize the ball of the arm bone into the socket of the shoulder blade. Every time you move your

shoulder, the rotator cuff stabilizes the shoulder joint before the large muscles take over and do whatever task youre asking

    your shoulder to do.

Injuries to the rotator cuff include tendonitis, impingement and tears. All of these can be treated with proper physicaltherapy whereas a severe rotator cuff tear often requires surgery. Traditional therapy for a rotator cuff issue includes exer-

cises, stretching, postural training and modalities (heat, ice, ultrasound, etc.).

Often times I find that the patient with rotator cuff issues is out of balance in their ribs, hips or legs and once we balance

these areas out, their shoulder pain or restriction is significantly improved! This approach is called Total Motion Release

which quickly evaluates all of the large areas of the body to identify imbalances between the right and left sides. Call us

today for a FREE CONSULTATION, thanks for reading, and have a great day!

Buying Or Selling? Give Her A Call

QUESTION: Is it a good idea to sell?

ANSWER: I have years of experience in real estate including being a certified staging expert and a negotiation specialist.

There are many ready, willing and able buyers wanting to buy NOW. With the interest rates being at an all-time low and the supply of

homes for sale going so quickly buyers are eager to find the perfect home.

Staging a home puts money in your pocket. Curb appeal, smells, colors, organization, cleanliness and lighting are just a few things that

can allow a buyer to see the beauty of your home.

Dont choose an agent by their zip code but by their experience and knowledge of your market. Be sure the agent can give you

staging advice among other things and most importantly strong negotiating skills to ensure you end up with the most money in your

    pocket.

Allow your home to shine for someone who will love and appreciate it the way you do. If you are interested in finding out more

information about selling your home please contact me and mention this article for a free comprehensive market analysis. Happy Selling!

QUESTION: Will your Insurance Protect you from a Facebook Lawsuit?

ANSWER: Most everyone knows that the use of social media has grown by leaps and bounds over the past decade. What many people dontrealize are the unique risks that come along with social networking. Anyone using Facebook or other social networking sites should exerciseextreme caution in what they decide to say online.

In 2009 a teenager in New York sued some of her classmates and their parents, accusing the classmates of bullying and humiliating her in aFacebook Forum. Whether or not the allegations were true, the teenagers and their parents require legal resources to pay for the possiblejudgments against them. Many people believe that a standard homeowners policy will cover them in such a situation. A standard policy covers

bodily injury or property damage done to someone else, however it does not include coverage for publishing or saying something that injuresanother persons reputation. As a result the standard homeowners policy is unlikely to cover for damages, nor would it provide defense costs.

Coverage can be provided for a nominal fee by adding personal injury coverage to your homeowners policy. Additional coverage is also

available from a personal umbrella policy at a cost as low as $10 per month. To learn more about this, and other insurance coverage, please visit our website at communityinsurancecenter.com or call us at 248-628-2505.

I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY ARREARAGES ON MY HOME FOR MY MORTGAGE AND PAST DUE

REAL ESTATE TAXES, HOW CAN I STOP A BANK OR TAX FORECLOSURE AND KEEP MY HOME?

The surest way to stop a foreclosure is to file for protection under Chapter 13 of the bankruptcy code. Chapter13 will allow you from 36 to 60 months to pay off any arrears on your mortgage WITHOUT INTEREST. Real estatetaxes can be paid over the same periods, but they carry interest at statutory rates.

If your house is worth less than the total amount owed on your first mortgage, Chapter 13 will allow you toconvert your second and third mortgages or HELOCs to unsecured status. Then they are treated as unsecureddebt, like credit card obligations. Unsecured creditors are the lowest priority and usually get only a few cents onthe dollar in a Chapter 13, if anything.

Please remember that you must file before the Sheriffs Sale or the end of the redemption period on the taxforfeiture

    QUESTION: What about my deductible??

ANSWER: When you have your vehicle repaired after an auto accident or other damage your insurance company mayrequire you to pay a deductible. Your deductible is the portion of the total repair cost that is your responsibility when yousubmit an insurance claim. Your insurance company uses your deductible as a method of making sure you absorb part of therisk of being insured. (The same will usually hold true for your health insurance company, home owners insurance, etc.) Afteryou have paid your deductible, your insurance company pays the balance of the cost of repairs. Your deductible is NOT AN

EXTRA COST. There are also variables in the amount of your deductible. Your deductible is directly affected by the type ofinsurance policy you choose. And your deductible may or may not apply to any given claim depending on your policy and thecircumstances of the accident/damage to your vehicle.

When you carry auto insurance, make sure that you are familiar with your policy terms and the amount of your deductible. If you think that your deductible may pose a problem for you in the event of an accident/damage to your vehicle, you maywant to contact your insurance agent and make a policy adjustment. Insurance deductibles are not our area of expertise butit is our most asked question.

WOULD GYMNASTICS BE GOOD FOR MY CHILD?

You may be surprised how beneficial gymnastics are for your child! The Presidents Council on Physical Fitness and Sports states that encour-

aging moderate and vigorous physical activity among youth is important, as the habits learned as a child are often carried through to adulthood.

Exercise significantly reduces the risk of obesity, heart disease, and diabetes in adulthood.

Gymnastics Promotes Fitness and Strength - The fitness benefits kids can gain from gymnastics include body and muscle strength, cardio-

vascular endurance, power and agility. These fitness perks, not only help kids stay healthy, they can be applied to other sports as well, such as:

soccer, dance, cheerleading, track and karate.Gymnastics Teaches Discipline and Hard Work - Gymnastics requires dedication and a strong work ethic. Kids learn early on in the sport

that they must work hard at perfecting their skills, and strive for success.

Gymnastics Builds Self Confidence and Determination - As children learn new skills and tricks, they gain more confidence and determina-

tion to build on those accomplishments.

Children love to jump on beds and do somersaults! Gymnastics is the sport that can develop their natural instincts into a healthy future. What

    could be better?

QUESTION: I am a 66 year old active male scheduled to have a total right knee replacement this year. What type of post-

surgery exercise program will allow me to return to normal functional daily activities?

ANSWER: You are one of 687,000 people scheduled to have total knee replacement this year. Immediately after surgery the

focus is on knee motion. Some surgeons even recommend a knee motion machine to be used at home. This machine

bends and straightens the knee which prevents scarr ing.

Initial strengthening focused on the quadricep muscle located on the front of the thigh. Straight leg raises and seated

knee extension with weight resistance target the quad, while standing leg curls focus on the hamstrings. Currently more

exercise programs are initiating functional exercises as early as 2 weeks after surgery.

These activities include step ups in all directions, forward lunging and tilt board squats. A recent study in the Journal of

Orthopedic and Sports Physical Therapy reported that after k nee replacement 52% of patients said they had some limita-

tion in performing functional activities compared to only 22% of aged matched individuals without knee disorders.
