Do You Know What it Means to be Part of the Adams Football Family?

History, Tradition, Champions Adams Highlander Football

Did You Know . . .

● Adams Football had 100 players and 11 coaches on the three squads last season? ● Adams Football is the largest and only non-cut male team at Adams? ● All Pay to Participate fees and gate fees from games go to the RCS general fund for the district? ● Concession sales go to the Booster Club who then distributes the funds among ALL Adams sports

teams? ● The district only pays for seven coaches? Adams Football had 11 coaches! ● The district provides 13 footballs each year? Adams Football uses over 65 footballs per season! ● The activity fees of $250.00 per player helps to pay for supplies for the pasta parties, some

salaries, popsicles on 2-a-days, coaches’ gifts and Beastmaster patches? ● The activity fees help pay for Parent Night gifts, Senior gifts, and bagels and water for game-film? ● Adams Football program has spent nearly $10,000 each year replacing equipment? ● Adams Football spent $40,000 on new uniforms in the past 7 years? ● Adams Football pays the salaries of our additional coaches? These coaches are essentially

volunteering their time – if you average their pay compared to the hours they put in, their salaries would be under minimum wage.

● Adams Football provides spirit wear, yard signs, and programs at cost, as a service for the football families?

Our Adams Football Program would not be possible without our parent volunteers! Volunteers are the most essential element to ensuring we can provide the best experience for our

young men. Each family must meet certain volunteer requirements, through fundraising, game day

duties, program sponsored events and pasta parties.

2018 Volunteer Opportunities include:

● Frosh & JV Game Day – chain gang, announcers, running the scoreboard and clock, press box

assistants, and writing up the game summary

● Varsity Game Day – concessions, pizza party, 50/50 sales, and program sales

● Pasta Parties – assisting in set-up, clean-up and providing food

Volunteering is also an opportunity to meet other parents and be more involved in your son’s

activities. It truly takes a collective effort from all our football families to ensure the Adams Football

Program maintains a high level of excellence and a great experience for our boys!

“Beastmasters” Rochester Adams Football Program

Beastmasters is a summer conditioning and development experience that has become an honored tradition in the Adams football program. All current Adams Football athletes (and many younger athletes that aspire to one day join the Adams Football program) participate in the Beastmasters workout series each year. Those who successfully meet the program requirements receive the coveted Beastmasters patch to be worn proudly on the upper sleeve of the athlete’s Varsity jacket. In previous years, the Beastmasters has included a variety of formats, but the 2013-2018 seasons marked a new era of excellence and standards in off season achievement. Following please find details of the program for 2019:

Summary Beastmaster workouts will be held weekdays at Adams beginning immediately following dismissal on the last day of school and will continue throughout the summer until the official start of the 2019 season. Exceptions include only dates corresponding to Adams Mini-Camp (June) MHSAA dead week (July) and Varsity Veer Camp (July). Beastmaster workouts begin promptly at 10:00 am and continue for two hours (typically until Noon). Athletes move through a series of stations in the weight room, the gym, and on the football field participating with their assigned groups in guided drills (weightlifting, agility drills, tire tosses, sleds, etc.) at each station.

Beastmaster Award Athletes must attend 75% of the scheduled workouts to earn the Beastmaster Award (at least 18 of 24).

Claymore Award Athletes attend 90% of the scheduled workouts (at least 21) are eligible to earn the Claymore Award, which entails additional requirements based on strength, endurance, and achievement in school. (21 of 24)

Authorized Exceptions ● All absences must be reported in advance to Coach Patritto’s cell by either text or voice

message: (248) 877-7712 ● Authorized absences include participation in organized camps (sports, band, etc.) ● See Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for additional information

The Spirit of the Beastmaster

To provide a positive pre-season conditioning experience that will make Adams football players physically and mentally stronger and more agile while building comradery amongst teammates at all levels.

Disclaimer: Coach Patritto reserves all rights to update/modify/execute the program at his discretion.

Beastmasters FAQ’s Q: Why the change? A: Coach Patritto and coaching staff are focused on delivering a summer program that will create an embedded sense of unity and commitment with the team in preparation for the upcoming football season. Q: What if I’m going on a family vacation? Will these absences count against my participation total? A: Yes they will. The program is designed so that the Awards are achievable even with 25% absences (which means you can miss up to 6 of 24 sessions scheduled and still earn the Award!). Q: Can my middle school age son participate and earn the award? A: Yes. There are incoming FROSH who will start AHS having achieved three years of participation. Q: What if there is a family emergency? A: Coach Patritto will administer this program fairly and with discretion to accommodate all reasonable considerations. Q: Why is the new program criteria more extensive? A: There is a new standard of excellence in AHS football conditioning and preparation. Workout times have been carefully selected to minimize disruption to other sport commitments. Q: What if my son is injured? A: While extremely unfortunate, the Beastmasters award is one that is earned through participation. Coach Patritto will use discretion on how to handle situations as needed. Q: What does my son need to bring with him to Beastmasters workouts? A: Tennis/running shoes, water bottle, and cleats. Q: My son has asked me to purchase over the counter “pre-workout” / “post-work out” supplements. Is this recommended? A: The AHS football program does not prescribe/recommend performance enhancing products of any kind. That said, many boys do utilize over-the-counter supplements. Muscle Milk by Cytosport is one example of a product that is manufactured free of all banned substances and widely used at the college level. Please consult your family physician or nutritionist with additional questions. Q: Is there a certain performance level my son must attain while at Beastmasters workouts in order to qualify for the award? A: No. As long as your son is present and participating to the best of his ability he will receive credit for his workout. Q: How is attendance tracked? A: A member of the AHS Football coaching staff will take attendance. All absences should be communicated, to the extent possible, to Coach Patritto via cell prior to missing a workout (248) 877-7712. Q: Is there additional criteria to earn the Claymore Award? A: Yes. The Claymore Award requires satisfaction of additional requirements including GPA, bench press, squats and shuttle run combined with 90% attainment of the Beastmasters workout program. All standards must be met to attain this most prestigious award! Q: Do you really think this will enhance the AHS football program? A: Absolutely!!! No question.
