This addendum forms a part of the Contract Documents and modifies the original RFB dated April 2020 and Addenda 1 and 2. 1 Per Drawings M1.2 M1.3, the valve vaults are to have cast-in DI MJ Wall Sleeves, is it acceptable to utilize link seal at these locations given that the vaults are precast and will not be poured in place to facilitate sleeve installation? Please advise. CivCast Q 14.
Link-Seal Model C is an acceptable alternative using EPDM rubber seals and zinc dichromate bolts and nuts.
2 Pipe Embedment Trench Backfill- Sheet C5.1- Specification 31 23 33.- 1) Will concrete encasement be required under Gravel Roads and Right of Way? 2) Will Gravel backfill be required from the top of embedment to subgrade at Gravel Roads and Right of Way? 3) Will select fill be required from top of embedment to surface for all pipe out of Right of Way? ( Georeport indicates all excavated material will not meet the select fill specification.) CivCast Q 15.
1) Concrete encasement is only required in locations specifically called out on the plans. 2) Gravel backfill is required under paved and gravel roadways, and any surfacing other than seeded or sodded surfaces. It is required from the top of the embedment to the bottom of the surface layer. 3) Excavated trench materials meeting the requirements in the City of Waco Standard Specifications for Construction may be used as backfill in areas which have seeded or sodded surfacing. Select and gravel backfill shall be used in all other locations with surfacing other than seeded or sodded finished surfaces.
3 There appears to be a 6" ductile iron swing check valve in the Bold Springs Meter Vault on Drawing M1.3, please confirm that this is a ductile iron swing check valve upstream of the flowmeter. If so, please provide a specification section for it. CivCast Q 16.
There is no check valve. Per the note and dashed outline on M1.3 that references Sheet M5.2, City of Waco standard detail W-20, meter vault equipment shall match that shown in detail W-20.

4 Please clarify how the 4" Buried Recirculation piping is to transition from an MJ ductile 90 to Schedule 40 SST Pipe on Drawing M2.5, Section 4. This transition would be better via some form of flanged connection atop the slab rather than at the MJ fitting. Please advise. CivCast Q 17.
The 4” SST riser pipe is FLxPE with the PE fit into the MJ 90-degree bend. Use a transition gasket on the MJ 90-degree bend for a water-tight seal around the PE of the 4” SST pipe. Use rebar looped over the 90-degree bend with the ends of the rebar cast into the concrete thrust block for restraint. See attached detail sheet for vertical thrust block
5 Please provide a spec for the injection quill at the Recirculation Pump Station Piping on drawing M2.5, callout 19. CivCast Q 18.

6 Please provide a spec for the "H-Style Strainer" located within the Control Valve Vault at the Elm Mott P.S. Site on Drawing M3.3. CivCast Q 19.
H-Style strainer shall be equipped with flanged connections and ductile iron body with NSF/ANSI 61 fusion bonded epoxy coatings throughout. Screen shall be large flow area, flat 316 stainless steel strainer mesh perpendicular to flow with low pressure drop/head loss (< 1.0 psi@ 10,000 gpm). Strainer shall be equipped with lower drain/blow-off opening/plug and upper air bleed opening/plug. Top cover shall be easily removable for cleaning and maintenance. Valve shall be equipped with differential pressure gauge assembly and shall be Cla-Val model X43H or approved equal.
7 Please provide a spec for the SDR9 HDPE Piping required for the Chlorine Booster Pump Discharge Piping on Drawing C3.2. Can this buried piping be substituted with SCH80 PVC similar to the exposed piping on this system? CivCast Q 20.
HDPE Piping for waterworks (4”-65”) shall meet all standards for ANSI/AWWA C906-15 and shall be DR 11 (200 psi). HDPE piping for water services shall be ASTM D2737, SDR9 HDPE outside controlled diameter tubing, copper tube size (CTS). See attached specification sheet.
8 Please provide a spec. for the SDR9 HDPE Piping required for the Cold/Tepid water piping to the eyewash/shower on Drawing P3.1. Can this buried piping be substituted with Copper, similar to the buried piping at the West GST site eyewash system? CivCast Q 21.

Welded brackets for mounting tank appurtenances to the tank shall be steel and painted as part of the tank. The ladder and handrail shall be aluminum and shall bolt to the tank brackets with stainless steel hardware.

10 Ref Spec 33 11 13.10 2.2 A. 1. Will you allow MJ C153 compact fittings for use on C900? They are allowed for DIP in section 33 11 13.10 2.1 A.2. CivCast Q 23.
Yes, compact fittings are acceptable to use with C900 piping.
11 Section 33 14 43 - Package Booster Station - We respectfully request that Grundfos be added as an approved supplier for the Booster Station, meeting all plans and specs. I can send a scope for pre-approval. Thanks. CivCast Q 24.
Packaged water booster pump station manufacturers shall be limited to those listed by name in the technical specification for this section.
12 Ref Plan Page M2.6. Please provide a specification for the 4" Flg Globe Valve (Throtting). CivCast Q 25.
This specification shall replace the globe valve specified in 40 27 21, Part 2 Products, 2.8 Globe Valves. Globe valves shall be NSF 61 certified cast or ductile iron body and bonnet, rising stem or OS&Y, flanged, Class 125, fusion bonded epoxy coated throughout, and rated for 200 psi at 100-degrees F. Disc and body seat ring shall be bronze, with stem and yoke bushing manganese bronze ASTM B584 C84400. Packing shall be braided flexible graphite. The valve shall be equipped with the following features: Brass gland (ASTM B16 C36000), ductile iron gland flange and handwheel, bronze disc stem ring, brass stem hole bushing and brass disc guide stem and pin (ASTM B16 C36000), stainless steel locking device, steel bonnet studs and nuts, naval brass gland studs and nuts (ASTM B21 C48200).
13 Ref Meter Vault Detail M1.3 M2.3. In the plan view at bottom left. Please identify the type and specification for the valve between the Dismantling Joint and the Gate Valve. It appears to be a check valve, but it isn't identified. Please verify this valve type. CivCast Q 26.
Per the note and dashed outline on M1.3 that references Sheet M5.2, City of Waco standard detail W-20 for meter vault design and construction, meter vault equipment shall match that shown in detail W-20, Sheet M5.2.
14 Please advise the gate valve specification for follow for buried gate valves? Spec 40 27 21 2.7 A, calls for a C500 Double Disc Gate Valve. Spec 33 12 16 2.1, call for Resilient Wedge Gate Valves. CivCast Q 27.
Delete gate valve specification in Specification 40 27 21, Section 2.7, Paragraph A. The specification for resilient seat gate valves contained in Specification 40 27 21, Section 2.7, Paragraph B., and Specification 33 12 16, Section 2.1 still apply.

15 Spec 40 27 21 2.10 3. c. Buried valves shall have extension stems, bonnets and valve boxes. The buried valve box detail on plan page C5.2 doesn't appear to have an extension stem and valve box. It doesn't show an additional bonnet, please verify the requirements. CivCast Q 28.
Sheet C5.2, Detail W-4, shows the valve extension stem that connects to the valve 2” operating nut and extends to the top of the valve box. Several callouts on the detail identify the stem (tubing) extension.
16 33 11 33 1.3.B Factory Inspection & Tests: This section references factory testing, but does not reference what specific type of testing is required. Section 01 33 00 does not specify either. Please advise what type of testing is required.

20 33 14 43: Section 2.2.A: Is an ANSI pump required? Interchangability with other pump models is referenced indicating ANSI. Close coupled pumps meeting DIN and ISO standards and JP or JM motors indicates non-ANSI. Drawing shows a 6” suction x 5” discharge indicating non-ANSI. If ANSI is required please advise if Peerless Pumps will be accepted packaged by Grundfos Engineered Systems via Pierce Pump Company. If non-ANSI is required please advise if Paco Pumps will be accepted packaged by Grundfos Engineered Systems via Pierce Pump Company. Piping and valves might need to change slightly depending on what is required.

21 Sheet M3.2 Legend Symbol #1 calls out for a line stop on the 12" line from the existing GST to Pump #2. Does this line need to stay in operation or can it be temporarily taken down to have the 12" valve installed in the line? What is the duration that the Elm Mont Pump Station can be out of service to install the pumps & piping on the interior? CivCast Q 29.
The GST and pump station can be out of service for up to 24 hours. Coordination with the City of West will be required to ensure their tanks are full prior to taking the Elm Mott GST and pumps out of service. A 12” gate valve, valve box and cover shall be installed in the common suction line prior to the wye that branches to both pumps.
22 We will be a sub-contractor for this project. To be considered as an Integrator performing the Controls portion for this project, the integrator needs to be prequalified per specification section 40 90 00 (General Control Systems has provided documents for pre-qualification)
General Control Systems, Inc. does not meet project specifications.
CHANGES TO SPECIFICATIONS/DRAWINGS
1. REVISE: Specification 33 12 23.30 Split Case, Horizontal Mounted Pump, Section 2.6 Seals, Paragraph C. Materials of Construction, Item 5. – Delete: “Item 5. The pumps are to be equipped with a Vertical Turbine Version Spiral Trac bushing made of 416 Stainless Steel material.” The pumps shall not be equipped with the vertical turbine version spiral trac bushing.
2. REVISE: Specification 40 27 20 Data Sheet 1 through 6 – Delete “Tank” from the footer. All data sheets apply to the entire project.
3. REVISE: Specification 40 27 20 – Add: DATA SHEET 7 – HIGH DENSITY POLYETHYLENE (HDPE) PIPE AND FITTINGS. Add the attached Data Sheet 7 for HDPE Pipe and Fittings to the construction documents.
4. REPLACE: Sheet C5.1 – Detail 7, Vertical Thrust Block at Pipe Bend, has been added to sheet. All vertical pipe bends shall receive thrust block per this detail.
5. REVISE: Sheet M1.2 – Install 3’-0” of flex base below precast concrete control vault in lieu of 2’-0” shown on drawings.

HIGH DENSITY POLYETHYLENE (HDPE) PIPE AND FITTINGS

General All Pipe lengths, fittings, and flanged connections to be joined by thermal butt-fusion shall be of the same type, grade, and class of polyethylene compound and supplied from the same raw material supplier.
Materials in contact with potable water shall conform to AWWA C901-08/17 or AWWA C906-15, NSFANSI 61/14 and ASTM D3350 cell Class 445574.
Pipe ASTM D3350, high density polyethylene, maximum allowable hoop stress 800 psi at 73.4 degrees F.
Polyethylene resins shall conform to Type PE 3408 or better.
Protection shall be provided against ultraviolet light degradation using carbon black, not less than 2 percent well dispersed in the resin.
Pipe wall thickness shall reflect the required SDR* and diameter, as shown in Table 8, ASTM F714.
8" & larger Same as pipe, butt fusion joined, conforming to ASTM D3350.
All fittings shall have same pressure rating as pipe, unless otherwise noted.
