Active shooter events, in which an individual is actively engaged in killing or attempting to kill people in confined or populated areas, are on the rise. These situations are unpredictable, evolve quickly and are typically over within 10-15 minutes with the majority of damage done before the first responder arrives.
This is why the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency, and an increasing number of municipalities recommend that all businesses, places of worship, and schools learn to prevent and prepare for active shooter situations.
