“Speak Up and Stop Violence”
On the 20th 23rd and 27th of March a program called “Love Bites “came to Cardiff High School to educatethe students about domestic violence and sexual assault.
The program consisted of video presentations, case study scenarios and discussion led by community casemanagers. Students had the opportunity to express their concerns on these topics through art and song.
Students composed rap lyrics such as “Break the Silence, Speak up and stop violence”.
A bus provided by the Oasis team at the Salvation Army assisted students in musical back-up andequipment to create these songs.
The students also created banners, posters and artworks with messages such as “There’s always a helpinghand”.
The purpose of the program Love Bites is to raise awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault byproviding students with strategies and services to contact if required.
