Background
Address geocoding is the process of determining the spatial or geographic location of single or multiple addresses of interest.
Required Information
Reference data, which contains the location of roads and attributes like name, street type, to and from address numbers (for each side of the road), etc…
A table or list of addresses that you want to locate spatially.
An address locator, which defines the way the reference data is used to find matches with the addresses of interest. This is created in ArcCatalog.
Reference data example
Road layer with attributes like:
• Name• Type – street, drive, lane, etc…• Predir and Suffix – N, S, E, W, NE, etc…• L or R F_ADD and T_ADD – the to (T)
and from (F) address numbers on the left (L) and right (R) sides of the road
