The program is designed to connect students for NSW Public Schools with schools in South Korea to develop students’ global thinking and for them to engage with Asia. Developing global thinking is a 21 st century learning skill and engagement with Asia is a cross-curriculum priority of the Australian Curriculum that all Australian students must learn. As part of an introduction, on Tuesday Year 4/5 entertained them with a rendition of the song ‘Botany Bay’. Next, Year 5 gave a visual display of Australia, New South Wales and Adelong to show the South Korean exactly where in Australia they lived. It was a wonderful experience and all the students and teachers are excited for 2017 when it becomes a weekly event.
