Dear Friends of Adelphi Athletics,

Welcome to the 2013-14 Annual Report. The report accentuates the

accomplishments of this past academic year. It also highlights the many

people that made those accomplishments possible.

The pinnacle of our year from a competitive standpoint was when

Adelphi University captured our second straight Northeast-10 Presidents’ Cup for overall

excellence in athletics. The final standings saw AU beat out rivals Stonehill College and

Bentley University for the coveted cup. This honor is so special because it is one that we all

share as every team in the department contributed to winning this award.

In 2013-14 Adelphi won three Northeast-10 Conference championships and sent eight teams

to the NCAA tournament – culminating in the women’s lacrosse program’s sixth national

championship. We also recognized 16 All-Americans, four NE-10 Players of the Year and

two NE-10 Coaches of the Year.

The hard work by our student-athletes continued into the classroom as each semester we had

over 260 student-athletes earn a GPA of 3.0 or higher and 20 of our 22 teams recorded team

GPA’s of 3.0 or higher. In addition, we had two student-athletes earn CoSiDA Academic All-

American honors – Nick Watson, Men’s Lacrosse and Devan Crimi, Women’s Lacrosse. They

are just the 18th and 19th student-athletes in Adelphi’s history with that distinction.

Our students also remained committed to becoming leaders in the community as they spent

countless hours raising funds for the Winthrop University Hospital Kid’s Cancer Center, the

Make-A-Wish Foundation, and the Adelphi University Breast Cancer Hotline.

As you read through this report, I hope you enjoy seeing the connection between the many

accomplishments of our student-athletes and all of the outstanding people that contribute

to our athletic program’s success. This next year will be filled with many challenges and

opportunities for the Adelphi Panthers.

I look forward to having you join us on

another exciting journey.

Sincerely,

Danny McCabe

Director of Athletics and Campus

For the second consecutive year, Adelphi University claimed the Northeast-10 Conference Presidents’ Cup, as Danny McCabe, Director of Athletics & Campus Recreation and women’s volleyball student-athlete Kaitlyn DeStefano, 2014-15 SAAC Co-President, accepted the 2013-14 award during the conference’s year end banquet.

Adelphi, which sat in third place in the cup standings following the winter season, jumped into the top spot after earning a league-best 75 points this spring, which included Northeast-10 regular-season titles in men’s and women’s lacrosse and a second-place finish in women’s tennis.

The Panthers also won the Northeast-10 Golf Championship back in September, claimed the Southwest Division regular-season title in women’s basketball, and finished third in the women’s soccer standings.

The Presidents’ Cup is presented annually to signify overall athletic excellence in the Northeast-10. The honor is awarded to the institution that compiles the most cumulative points, based on finishes in the regular-season standings, from all of its programs competing in league championships.

NE-10 CHAMPSThe Panthers claimed three team championships and an individual championship during the 2013-14 season as men’s golf was victorious in the fall followed by the men’s and women’s lacrosse teams in the spring.
