What is Adf.ly?

Adf.ly is a URL shortening service, similar to bit.ly or goo.gl, but with a twist. You can make money from every link you create! Today there are plenty of websites that give you the opportunity to shorten your links in order to make them more appealing. However, Adf.ly is one of the few that can make you money.

How does Adf.ly work?

Adf.ly inserts an ad into every link that you create. The ad shows for 5 seconds before the user can skip ahead and continue to the links destination. You make money each time a user sees an ad in your links. As of this presentation the amount of money you make ranges from $0.5 to $4.7, per thousand views.

Displaying Interstitial Ads

Displaying Interstitial Ads in your links is the highest paying option. If you place an interstitial advertisement in a link you shrunk with Adf.ly the Ad will appear full screen for five seconds before a person can skip it and continue to their link’s destination. While this is the highest paying option Adf.ly offers it may not be the best option for every situation.

Using a Framed Banner

A good alternative to an Interstitial Ad is a Framed Banner. It is considered preferable by users because this type of Ad will only show up as a banner at the top of the browser. However a Framed Banner will not make as much money as an Interstitial Ad.

Full Page Scripts

Full Page Scripts are another service offered by Adf.ly. A code snippet is placed in your website’s code, changing all of your links to Adf.ly links. However I would not advise using Full Page Scripts, doing so will make your users watch an ad every time they click on a link at your website. While you can make some money with this method, it will most likely piss of anyone who browses your website.

Get Referrals to Lighten Your Work Load

If you introduce people to Adf.ly, there is a referral program that grants you 20% of your referral’s earnings for life. If you get about 100 referrals, all making approximately $1 per month, you will automatically receive $20 every month without doing any work. It may not seem like a lot but money, but it quickly adds up. An easy way to get referrals if you run a website or blog is to put up an Adf.ly banner on your site. If a person clicks on the banner and signs up, you will get that referral.

Post on Forums

Forums are a great place to advertise Adf.ly if you do not run a website or blog. Depending on the forum, they can get up to hundreds or thousands of views a month. By connecting your Adf.ly link to a topic that interests forum users you can get hundreds of hits a day. For example posting a photography link you shorted with Adf.ly in a photography forum.

Create videos on YouTube

YouTube is another service that in conjunction with Adf.ly can be used to make money online. You can put links you have shortened with Adf.ly in the video description and if interested viewers click on the links you get hits. If you have a popular channel, the more videos you post the more hits you get on links in the description and the more money you make.

Linking to Social Websites

If you’re active user of websites such as Twitter, Facebook, or MySpace you can easily make money from them. Similar to using YouTube as a means of displaying your links, you can also post them to social networking sites. The more links you post on highly trafficked websites, the more hits you get, and the more money you make. However this method should be used in moderation to avoid you ‘friends’ and ‘followers’ from feeling they are being spammed by your posts.
