FIRE SAFETY WEEK CELEBRATION
19th April, 2014
Aditya Birla Public School, UAIL Campus, co-ordinated by theSecurity and Fire
ServicesDepartment,Utkal Alumina International Limited, Doraguda, celebrated 'Fire
Safety Week' on 19th April 2014. Mr. S.V Shrivastava,AGM,Security and Fire Services
along with his colleagues conducted the programme in the school premises.They
addressedthe students of the School. The team explained to the students, using the fire
triangle of heat, fuel, oxygen, about how fire is caused, the four types of fire and ways in
which they can prevent fires. The team also displayed and demonstrated the use and
part of various types of fire extinguishers. A live fire demonstration was held on the
school grounds. The students got an opportunity to witness how to put out actual fires
using different fire extinguishers. It was followed by a Quiz Session wherein Mr.
Shrivastava asked some questions to the students related to Fire Safety. Children were
also rewarded for their correct answers.
INTER-HOUSE ART COMPETITION 21st April, 2014
To develop a competitive spirit, creativity and divergent thinking among students,
different competitions are conducted at ABPS round the year. These co-curricular
activities provide students opportunities to showcase their talents. The Inter House Art
Competition was conducted on 21st April 2014, children from classes-II – VIII were
divided into three groups (Group: A –II & III, Group: B-IV & V, Group: C-VI, VII & VIII).
The Creativity of the students was reflected in their beautiful drawing. The result of this
competition was declared in the Morning Assembly. Winners were awarded and
appreciated by our Principal, Mr.L.NDash. The selected works were displayed in the
Display Board of the school.
ACCOLADES OF OLYMPIADS 25th April, 2014
More than 170 students participated in different types of Olympiads in the session
2013-14.Many of them bagged Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals.It is a matter of pride that
Master Adarsh Pandey
of Class-III qualified for the second round in IMO. Mr. Soumyadarshan Biswas-VP-HR,
UAIL and Mr. Sudhir Ranjan Mohanty-AGM HR, UAIL felicitated the students with
certificates and medals. Mr. Biswas encouraged the students to be studious and bring
laurels to our school.
INTER- HOUSE ENGLISH STORY TELLING COMPETITION 26th APRIL, 2014
The Inter-House English Storytelling Competition was conducted on 26th April 2014 in
the Audio Visual Hall of the school. The enthusiastic competitors of ABPS, UAIL Campus
displayed their unfathomable talent. The participants of all the four houses told the
stories elegantly. Winners were felicitated with prizes and certificates as token
appreciation.
FAREWELL TO MR.RAJESH JHA, CEO & MD, UAIL, DORAGUDA 30th April 2014
The Students & Staff Members of Aditya Birla Public school bid farewell to Mr. Rajesh
Jha, CEO & MD, Utkal Alumina International Limited on 30th April, 2014. Alongwith Mr
Jha his wife Mrs Usha Jha, Mr. M.Ramesh Kumar Sr. VP(HR, Admin & CSR), Mr.
Soumyadarshan Biswas, VP(HR) visited the School. The Guests were welcomed by the
school children with band in a grand way. Mr. & Mrs. Jha planted saplings in the school
campus. Children offered bouquet and greeting card signed by the students and
teachers as a small token of love to Mr. &Mrs. Rajesh Jha. In his address Mr. Jha gave the
example of Mr. Barrack Obama, the President of the USA. Being an African and an
adopted child of his parents, he achieved success in his life only because of good
education he received from his teachers. He thanked the Principal and all the teaching
fraternity for their dedicated service.
INAGURATION OF THE FIRST FLOOR OF THE SCHOOL 30th June, 2014
With the increasing number of student populace, the school augmented its first floor in
the session 2014-15. Mr. Vijay Sapra, Unit Head & President, UAIL, Doraguda, along with
other dignitaries, inaugurated the first floor on 30th June, 2014. The splendid floor is
comprised of the well staked library, science, social sciences, maths laboratories, art and
craft room, music room and classrooms.
MLA’S VISIT TO SCHOOL 27th June, 2014
Mr. Kailash Kulasika , the MLA of Laxmipurconstituency visited the school on 27th June
2014. He took a round of the campus and appreciated the overall school activities.

MEMBER- SCHOOL MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE.

A day it was, what a day it was! It must be remembered and cast an indelible imprint in
the minds and hearts of each every member of ABPS family, UAIL Campus.The Students,
staff and Principal of ABPS, UAIL Campus bid farewell to Mr.S.Biswas,VP-HR,UAIL
Doraguda and Member School Managing Committee on 28th June 2014 at the AVH. The
moment began with Welcoming Mr & Mrs Biswas with the honorary parade by the
school Head Boy, Master Nikhil KuamarMajhi and Head Girl, Miss Shrujani Mohanty. The
dignitaries from UAIL, Principal, teachers were present to welcome them. After planting
two saplings one each in the school garden, Mr. &Mrs. Biswas, were escorted to the AVH.
A farewell song composed by Mr. Dhiraj Mohanty was melodiously sung by the school
Choir Group which brought forth tears in the eyes of each and every one present in the
venue. Mr. L.N Dash, the Principal of the school made a moving speech on the
contributions made by Mr. Biswas to the school. Among the dignitaries, Mr. Vijay Sapra,
Unit Head, UAIL, spoke on the valuable contributions by Sir towards the school. He
added that Mr. Biswas was the architect of this school.Mr. M. Ramesh Kumar, Sr. VP-
(HR, Admin & CSR), UAIL, expressed his deep sense of appreciationand said that Mr.
Biswas is the epitome of a true democratic leader.The glimpse of his attachment with
the school activities were shown in the form of a PPT which was prepared by Mr.
DhirajMohanty, Music Teacher. It made everybody emotional as the dearest one who is
so attached to the school is departing. Mr. Biswas in his departing speech is very much
overwhelmed and said that being an HR personnel, he had never been so emotional
before. His parting message to his lovely children was to dream big and transform that
dream into reality.
PTM-1 5th July, 2014
It is very much essential to have a healthy interaction between the teachers and the
parents. With regard to this, an interactive session was held on 5th July 2014.
ENGLISH & HINDI CALLIGRAPHY COMPETITION 11th JULY, 2014
‘Bad hand writing is a sign of imperfect education’, said Mahatma Gandhi in his famous
autobiography ‘My Experiment with Truth’. Children need to be trained from the
very tender age how they can write beautifully. In order to motivate the children to
write beautifully and legibly, the Inter-House Hindi & English Calligraphy Competition
was organized on 11th July 2014. All the students from classes II to VIII had participated
in it. The winners from each group were awarded with prizes and certificates and the
selected pieces of writing were displayed in the school display board.
SOLO & GROUP SONG COMPETITION 12th JULY, 2014
Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent. The Inter- House Solo & Group Song Competition was organized on 12th July 2014. Thirty six students from Classes II to VIII enthusiastically participated in this competition. It was a feast for the ears when the little singers sang melodiously. The judgement was done on the basis of SUR, LAYA, TAL, BHAW/Expression and body language. All the participants were well trained by the music teacher, Mr.DhirajMohanty. The jolly event comes to an end with the Prize Distribution and the prizes and certificates were given away by Mr.Laxminarayan Dash, the Principal of the School.
HINDI STORY TELLING COMPETITION 26th July, 2014
The Inter-House Hindi Storytelling Competition was held on 26th July 2014. Students from classes- II to VIII were divided into three groups. Twelve participants from each house displayed their unfathomable talent in storytelling. The participants from each
group told stories with a message. Prizes and certificates were given away to the students by our Principal, Mr. L.N. Dash.
HINDI RECITATION COMPETITION
2nd August 2014.
The Intra-Class Hindi Recitation Competition was conducted on 2nd August 2014. The
tiny tots of Play Class to Class-I recited rhymes beautifully. Winners were awarded with
prizes and certificates as a token of motivation.
INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS 15th August 2014
The 68th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at Aditya Birla Public
School, UAIL Campus on 15th August 2014, Mr.M.Ramesh Kumar , Sr.Vice- President
(HR, Admin & CSR) , UAIL Doraguda& Trustee, Utkal Alumina Jana Seva Trust was the
Chief Guest in this mega national festival. The Chief Guest - Mr. Kumar hoisted the
national flag. After this our students were all set to do the March Past in the glory of our
national flag and in honour of our freedom
fighters.
The birth day of Sri Aurobindo Ghosh,
the great
revolutionary,
freedom fighter,
poet, yogi and
thinker was also
celebrated.
It was an eye catchy moment when the newly
formed students’ Council members marched forward to
receive badges from our Chief Guest. The Chief Guest
administered oath to the council members who swore to be
ideal and responsible leaders in the honour of the Aditya Birla
Public School.
Mr. L.N.Dash, Principal of the School addressed the gathering
wishing all a happy
independence day. He
thanked the management,
UAIL for the continuous
support extended to the
school.
He appreciated the
cooperation of the parents
towards the school activities.
Mr.M.Ramesh Kumar, in his valuable speech encouraged the children to excel in
academics. He appealed the parents to give constructive feedback and suggestion for the
improvement of the school.
The brimming buds of Aditya Birla Public School, UAIL Campus presented a melange of
cultural programmes. The little kids presented a small dance drama portraying the
theme of ‘Unity is Strength’. A patriotic skit on Jallianawalabaghmassacre moved the
audience and filled their eyes in tears. The skit traced the inhuman, brutal and merciless
firing of the British Soldiers towards the innocent Indians.
It made the audience spellbound when another group of children presented an
exhilarating folk dance. The entire programme was appreciated by one and all.

3rd August, 2014
Once again we are back with an interactive and useful session with the parents on 3rd
August, 2014. The parents were elated to meet the teachers and discuss different issues
related to pedagogy.
VISIT OF DIGNITARIES 27th August, 2014
Mr. Bhaskar Bhattacharya, AVP, L & D, Mr.UmeshHota, President-HR (Hindalco) and
Mr.M.RameshKumar,Sr.Vice President (HR,Admin. & CSR) visited the school on
27thAugust, 2014.They were warmly welcomed by our Principal Mr.L.N.Dash and his
team. First of all, each of the dignitaries planted saplings in the school garden. They
visited the campus and appreciated the overall activities of the school.
INTER–HOUSE HINDI SPEECH/ DEBATE COMPETITION 28th August 2014
The Inter-House Hindi Speech & Debate Competition was held on the 28th of August
2014 at Aditya Birla Public School, UAIL Campus. The students from Classes- II to VIII
were divided into three Groups. Group- A was comprised of the students of Classes -II &
III and they participated on the Hindi Speech Competition. Theycompeted on the topic:
‘’MERA DESH’’.
The students of classes IV&V were in Group – B and the topic for them was:
“SWATANTRATA SENANI”.
The students of classes VI, VII& VIII had a battle of words in Hindi on the
topic:“SWATANTRATA SANGRAM SENANIO KE SAPNE SAKAR HUE”.
A panel of prestigious judges comprising of
Mr.SudhansuSatapathy&Mr.SantoshBahadur Singh judged the competition. They
motivated our students at the end andprovided constructive suggestions.Each of the
participants presented his/her views elegantly on the stage. The most awaited result
was declared and the winners were awarded with prizes and certificates as tokens of
appreciation.
VISIT OF THE SUB-COLLECTOR 4th September, 2014
Mr. Pramod Kumar Mishra, Sub Collector, Rayagada visited the school on 4th September,
2014. He was warmly greeted
by Mr.L.N Dash, the Principal
of the school. He was so happy
to see the school set in the
beautiful lap of nature. He appreciated the effortsmade by the school in up-keeping the
school by display board. He was pleased to notice the impeccable infrastructure and
academic system followed here.
TEACHER’S DAY CELEBRATIONS
5th September, 2014
Teacher’s Daywas celebrated at Aditya Birla Public School, UAIL Campus on 5th
September 2014. The momentous occasion began with the Assembly conducted by the
teachers. First of all Mr.L.N.Dash, the Principal of the School, along with his team of
teachers, offered flower petals on the portrait of Dr.SarvepalliRadhakrishnan-the
greatest teacher, philosopher and educationist India has ever produced.
Mr .Laxminarayan Dash, the Principal of the school, wished all the teachers a Happy
Teachers Day. He motivated the students to choose teaching profession because our
country needs dedicated and talented teachers. The students entertained the teachers
by enthralling dance performance and musical feat.
Soon after the completion of the programme, the children were taken to the
Recreational Hall, Bachelors’ Hostel, UAIL Township to watch the Live telecast of the
honourable Prime Minister of India Mr. NarendraModi’s interaction with
students. His energizing, motivating and meaningful words lifted the spirit of the
students.

were given away by the Principal.
A SHOW ON MARS ORBITER MISSION
24th September 2014
Bringing to life, the long-cherished
dream of millions, India created
history by becoming the first
country to successfully get a
spacecraft into the Martian orbit on
its maiden attempt. A show on
ISRO’s Mars Mission was organized
in the Audio-visual Hall on 24th
April 2014. All the students from classes-III to VIII were assembled to witness
this historic achievement. It was a cherishing moment for the students and staff
of ABPS, UAIL Campus. Mr. Laxminarayan
Dash, the Principal of the school
enlightened the students on this mission
extending accolades to the Indian scientists.
Visual clippings and PPT were shown to the
students on this Mars Orbiter Mission. Mr.
Rajendra Kumar Sasmal-TGT
(Science)encouraged the students to acquire more information about the Red
Planet and Astronomy.
The show was indispensable and highly informative for the students.
