ADJECTIVES
In grammar, an adjective is a “describing” word; the main syntactic role of which is
to qualify a noun or noun phrase, giving more information about the object signified.
Adjectives are one of the traditional eight English parts of speech,
although linguists today distinguish adjectives from words such as determiners that formerly
were considered to be adjectives. In this paragraph, "traditional" is an adjective, and in the
preceding paragraph, "main" is.
Determiners Adjectives (adjetivos determinativos)
this (dis) - este, esta, esto (singular)
Examples:
This car, here, is mine.
Este auto, aquí, es mío.
I do not understand this.

Descriptive Adjectives (adjetivos calificativos)
Colors: black, grey, violet, white, green, orange, red, brown, sky blue, yellow,
pink, purple, beige, turquoise.
Examples:
Mars is known as "the red planet".
Martes es conocido como "el planeta rojo".
John was wearing a blue uniform.
John estaba vistiendo un uniforme azul.
Size / Measure: big, large, huge, small, tiny, heavy, light, thick, thin, wide, high,
low, tall, short, log, medium, narrow, deep, shallow, broad.

There was a huge tree in front of the house.

Age / Time: old, young, new, modern, ancient, old fashioned, updated, outdated,
fast, quick, slow, senior, junior, current, past, future.

thrilled, hopeful.
Examples:
The president was not satisfied with his ministers.

Compound Adjectives
Se forman combinando el adjetivo con otras partes de la oración y viceversa.
Generalmente las dos o más palabras que forman el adjetivo van separados por un guión: blue-
eyed - de ojos azules, well-known - bien/muy conocido, etc.
