Construct sentences using adjective and its degree of comparison.
Adjectives..
- are words that describe a noun
- are words that describe a person, a place, a thing or an event.
Adjectives are also used to compare a thing to another things, person, places, animals and events.
Degree of Comparison
1. Positive Degree
focused only one (1) noun.No comparison
For example:
• The pencil is long. • The room is dirty.• The pupils are active.• Tina is cheerful.• Darwin is tall.
2. Comparative Degree of Comparison
when two persons , animals, things and events are being compared.
one or two syllable word ( +er / +ier).Two or more syllable ( + less / +more)
Example:
•Today is colder than yesterday.( cold )•My grandfather older than me.( old )
Example:
•The ocean is deeper than the sea. ( deep )•Maya is happier today than yesterday.
( happy )
Example:
•Skate board is expensive.•A motorcycle is more expensive than a skateboard.
• Tina is cheerful.• Kris is more cheerful than Tina.
2. Superlative Degree of Comparison used when three or more persons, things, animals, and place are being compared.one or two syllable word (+est +iest)Two or more syllables ( + least / +most)
For example:
•* The pencil is long. • * The marker is longer than the pencil.• * The ruler is the longest among the three
Example:
•Mae is the brightest girl in the class.
•Dona wears the prettiest dress in the fall.
•Makibao is the fastest among the five horses.
•Pandaca pigmaea is the smallest fish in the world. ( small )•Ceres is the biggest asteroid ever known based on research among the asteroids. ( big )
•That duck is the ugliest duck I’ve ever seen. ( ugly )
• Skate board is expensive.• A motorcycle is more expensive than a
skateboard.• But a car is the most expensive among
the three.
Some are adjectives are irregular:

Adjectives of one syllable: add -er and -est:
Strong stronger the strongestWise wiser the wisestDry drier the driestHot hotter the hottest
Some adjectives are composed of two or more syllables like:
delicious importantexpensive dangeroususeful colorfulpopular beautifuldifficult helpful
Allen said “ Apples are delicious”. Later on he said “ Guava are more delicious than apples”.This time he said “ Mangoes are the most delicious”.
