Armaflex® installation commenced in June 2011 for use in
the Institute of Microelectronics (IME) at Singapore Science
Park II. IME is a multi-tenan t building that is one of Asia’s
most prestigious research, development and technology
hubs. To adapt to Green initiati ves and new benchma rks in
optimi zing energy efficiency in Singapore, Armaflex® was
recommended for use to obtain long-term thermal
efficiency and reduce ene rgy loss and CO2.
To insulate the building’s pipework, a total of 1,500sq.m. of
Class 0 Armaflex® sheet in 25mm thickne ss and 2,000m of
Armaflex® tubes in 13mm, 19mm, 25mm thickne ss were
used. Approximate 1,000sq.m. of Armaflex® Duct in 13mm
thickne ss was installed onto air ducts of the air conditi oning
to minimi ze heat gain and to prevent conden sation. The
installation was completed within only 2 months of
commencement.
Due to its closed-ce ll material, Armaflex® has a high resis-
tance to water vapour transmission and as such has a ‘built-
in’ vapour barrier. This differs from traditional systems
where the insulation must be protected against moisture
infi ltration by a separate vapour barrier. The resistance to
water vapour transmission is built up throughout the entire
insulation thickne ss of Armaflex®. Armaflex® is a highly
flexible elastomeric material that provides high flexibility
of ease of fitting and in stallation.
Armaflex® is dust-free, fibre-free, low VOC and
formaldehyde- free. Class 0 Armaflex® has been certified
according to the GREENGUARD Indoor Air Quality (IAQ
Certificati on Program for low emitling products.
