ADMINISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS
Operation Odin Norway July 2019
Reference:
1. Op Odin is a 7-day adventurous training expedition to the southern area of Norway. It is intended to be a fundraising expedition primarily to develop bonding and health benefits and the chance for members of the public to work with Ex Special Forces members and injured servicemen from the United Kingdom.
2. The aim of this instruction is to provide the participants with all relevant information regarding the expedition. Those attending are;

All concerns regarding this expedition should be addressed to the UK admin in the first instance, until commencement then will pass to Pilgrim Bandits Charities expedition leaders on the ground.Expedition Matt Hellyer .
Participant RequirementsAbility to remain away from standard living and hygiene facilities for 6 daysAbility to Canoe for up to 8 hours a day

We are planning a 8-day trip to Norway and spend 5/6 days on the fiords canoeing the Viking way from Surtetjonn to Byglandsfjord. This remote, sparsely populated wilderness area provides freedom for adventure with little or no contact with others. The trip routes and camps will be selected based on weather conditions and activities desired by participants. Visits to towns will be limited to logistic resupply.All Pilgrim personnel have been trained in emergency trauma care. In the event of a medical issue or emergency, they will maintain a satellite telephone to contact the appropriate authorities. All trails are within a few hours of standard highways that would lead to medical facilities.
During the trip, a running competition will consist of multiple events both physical and mental, resulting in prizes awarded at the end of the trip.
4. Outline of Events
Day 1 Friday Afternoon arrival kit out etc. Draw equipment from the stores/briefing supper Book in to the Revsnes hotel Byglandsfjord Day 2 B/fast pack/prepare and Transport north as far as we can go to be on the water in the afternoon start paddling South and camping; Day 3 Exped Survival camping Day 4 Exped Survival camping Day 5 Exped Survival camping (Replenish supplies Bygland) Day 6 Exped Survival camping Day 7 Exped RV end exped around midday wash down canoes de-kit book into hotel Revsnes Day 8 06/09 depart K.sand Kjevik back to the UK 6. Accommodation
Accommodation is a mixture of Hotel and tents whilst on the Expedition.
7. Feeding Arrangements.
a The expedition cost provides food with the hotel accommodation, you will have time to do your own food shopping in Evje for the expedition days, this will give you the chance to buy what you wish,
b Or you may wish to take your own dry rations.
5. Transport and travel.
a. Transport for all Ex personnel will be provided in the way of a Minibus while in Norway

8. Documentation. The following documentation is to be taken:
a. Passport. Passports are to be carried by individuals and have a minimum of 6 months to run.

9. Funds.
Individual Costs.
Expedition Entry Fee £1500. Deposit of £500 non-refundable to cover flight booking should anyone pull out.Balance to be paid on Invoice One month prior to travel.
Included;Flights from Stanstead to Kjevik and returnHotel accommodation for two nights and breakfast Canoe Hire , Transportation, 2 man Tents, sleeping bags, roll matts, cookers, fuel, for the expedition.Not included your own personal food for the expedition which can be bought in Evje or Byglandsfjord..Personal spending money
You will be required to raise the charity a Minimum of £1000 in sponsorship, and this has to show in a total giving sponsorship page before departure.
10. Administration.
a. Clothing. See full kit list below
b. Insurance. Everyone on the Ex is to ensure they have their own Travel insurance policy that covers them fully for outdoor activities. NO insurance means NO Ex.
It should be noted that all travel insurance policies do not cover loss/damage etc to items loaned, hired or entrusted (anything that is not the personal property of the user). All Ex participants are to ensure that they have their own personal kit insurance to cover this eventuality. Make sure your insurance does cover medical or repatriation costs.
Medicals. All Ex members are to make aware to the admin team in the UK and our staff attending ANY medical issues that we should know about before departure that may arise on the expedition.
Emergency Contact Numbers. The Ex OIC will advise you of an emergency contact number
11. Media Plan
Throughout the AT package a daily diary will be kept by the Ex OIC and all information will be reported back to the Media Officer at the end, those taking part will also be sent a feedback form on their return which we will use for future use. An article of this expedition will be written and submitted to our online website.
12. Discipline
Individuals are reminded that whilst on this Ex they should conduct themselves accordingly. Despite the informal environment, breaches of discipline will not be tolerated and if required individuals may be returned to the UK under the authority of OIC Ex and at their own costs.
13. Summary
This will be a great opportunity to develop through a challenging overseas expedition mental and physical attributes not always available in the normal day to day working environment. It is also a unique opportunity to experience working in the everyday world of the British Special Forces along with developing personal survival skills learnt through the experience.
