• Instructions o Complete the personification poem using the supplied template o Open Photoshop Elements and set up a canvas as below:

o Create a new layer, Layer>New Layer, and name it “back”

o Select a color from the Swatches palette for the foreground color

o Fill the layer with the foreground color, Edit>Fill

o Obtain a graphic/picture to illustrate poem from whatever digital sources are available to (Internet, digital cameral, scanner) and save the picture on the computer.

o Open the picture in Elements, File>Open, browse to the file

o If your picture is on a solid background, select the magic wand tool

to select all the background. Use the “Add to Selection” option if necessary to select all the background color.

o When all the background is selected, Select>Inverse

o Select the “move” tool to move the selected picture to the working canvas

o Select the “Custom Shape Tool”

o Select the “talk bubbles” from the options bar

o Select a new color from the Swatches palette for the talk bubble

o Draw the talk bubble and adjust the picture and bubble

o Select the text tool and a new color for the text from the Swatches palette. Enter the text of the poem, left aligned, and using the “Enter” key whenever a new line is desired

o Open the Layer Style palette and add styles to emphasis your text and your talk bubble

o Add you name to the bottom as the author

o Print in color and proudly display!
