Glucose • He is a simple sugar (monosaccharide)
• he is an important carbohydrate in biology.
• Cells use him as a source of energy and a metabolic intermediate.
•He is one on the main products of photosynthesis and starts cellular respiration.
Subunits of Glucose• Carbon: 6• Hydrogen: 12• Oxygen: 6• Ration 1:2:1
Functional Groups of Glucose
• Glucose is derived from hexanol, a chain of six carbon atoms terminating with an aldehyde group.
Glucose Hexanol Aldehyde
Function of Carbohydrates(Monosaccharides)
• Fuel for the body– Provides raw material for synthesis of amino and
fatty acids.
• One of the main energy sources for living organisms.• It is the primary source of energy in the body.• The primary source of energy for the brain.• It is a necessary substrate for glycolysis so that pyruvates can be made to be used in citric acid cycle.
I would be a great parent to Glucose because I am a loving and caring parent. I would treat it great because it treats me great by supplying me with energy and helps me with cellular respiration. I am going to watch out so it doesn’t get into water at all because it will dissolve considering it is soluble in water. Also, it is my favorite bio-molecule so I will try to eat a lot of it by eating sugar cane, chewing gum, jellys, and jams.
Sucrose• Sucrose is the organic compound commonly
known as table sugar
• sometimes called saccarose
• He is a white, odorless crystalline powder with a pleasing, sweet taste
Sucrose
• He is best known for its role in human nutrition
• He is a dissaccharide derived from glucose and fructose
• He is the most abundant pure organic chemical in the world.
Elements of Sucrose
• Carbon: 12
• Hydrogen: 22
• Oxygen: 11
Organic Compound
• Disaccharide Carbohydrates
• Functions: – Provide fuel for energy in the form of sugar
– Excellent preservative
– Carries energy in plants
• Sucrose is used sometimes as a sweetener in any cooked preparation of food or drink.• Used as a storage disaccharide for glucose.• Commonly known as table sugar.
I would be a great parent to SUCROSE because it is a well behaved and fun bio-molecule. It will help me if I am eating dull food and need some extra sweetness. I can add some table sugar, which is sucrose, and it will help me out. Also, sucrose is widely traded so any sucrose molecule that is bullying my son, I will trade them for money. A good thing is that it will never smell bad because it is odorless.
Welcome to parent teacher night! Looks like you ate too much sucrose and turned into a ginger bread man!
Your such a good parent trying to look like your son!
