Best model village – on an adopt a village scheme

•  Government / Corporates identify 50/100 villages

•  Corporates enter into a competition for adopting a village. Can choose any village

from the roster. The company needs to sponsor the village for a minimum of 3

years to ensure proper development

§  The Dream Village community will be empowered with the capability to transform their own lives. They will be able to create choices for themselves and their families

§  A Dream Village will have an informed and empowered village leadership including women's self-help groups, farmers’ groups, producer associations, water committees, school committees and more who will have access to information on all Government schemes, best practices and will be linked to the marketplace

§  Every home in the dream village community will have easy access to safe drinking water and other domestic water needs

§  Every home in the dream village will have a toilet

§  Every family in the dream village will have a bank account and access to formal credit

§  Every family in the dream village will have health insurance and access to public and private health care facilities for both primary and secondary healthcare

§  In a dream village, every child will go to school till the 10th standard. An enabling environment for the education of the girl child will be ensured

§  A dream village will be opened up to the world using appropriate technologies and will be environmentally and socially conscious and driven towards equitable and sustainable growth

DREAM VILLAGE

VISION §  Flagship project to make 5000 village scarcity free every year- target §  Objectives of the program is to create decentralized water bodies, rejuvenate water storage capacity

through existing structures and sensitize water budgeting amongst many others §  Make agricultural zones self sufficient and drought free IMPACT §  Created additional water capacity of 24 TMC, which has brought 6-lakh hectare area under irrigation §  The SIMNIC online application monitors work progress and conducts location tracking §  6,202 villages currently selected for 2015-16, where more than 1 lakh works have been completed §  State contribution of Rs. 1,000 crore has been supplemented by public contribution of Rs. 300 crore TARGETS §  The program is set a target to take the irrigation potential from 18% to 41% by 2019 §  The program has targeted to bring 25 lakh hectares of land under irrigation in the next three years in

bigger projects like de-silting and widening of rivers
