Outer Layer= Adrenal Cortex

Anterior to the kidneys

Hormones Epinephrine:

Heart rate and blood pressure increase

Diverts blood away from certain areas of the brain and internal organs to muscles

Increases speed and strength

Can cause one to feel energized, shaky, weak, or sick to the stomach

Norepinephrine: As a hormone:

Works along side Epinephrine to energize person

As a Neurotransmitter:

passes nerve impulses from one neuron to the next
