DAK and City Cave Adventure Tour

Datu Anawa Kalipay Cave is located at Brgy. Lucac, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur. For the Lumads, this is a ritual place of the “Baylan” (priest). This cave was claimed by Faustino España Sr., known as Datu Anawa Kalipay and died sometime in 1999 but his dead body did not decomposed. It can be found inside a Nipa Hut at Sitio Durian, Lucac. Upon request of the heirs, the cave was named Datu Anawa Kalipay in his honor. The cave is about 800 meters from the main entrance to the exit. It has two (2) story chambers full of fresh stalactites and stalagmites of different formations. It is here that the only White Elephant Speleothem (cave rock formation) can be found.

Cave City to the Lumads, is known as “Aningaw” Cave, a Manobo term which means “Echo”. This can be heard due to the high-rise rocks that surrounds the cave. This cave is characterized by big and high-rise rocks of Gothic Design; while the inside is characterized by Big Chambers reinforced by adjoining Stalactites and Stalagmites. One chamber portrayed the image of The Blessed Virgin Mary. This cave is known to be a sacred place for the Manobo’s. During Holy Week, the “Lumads” went to this cave to conduct rituals. They believe that their powers (Agimat) will be renewed by visiting this cave during Lenten Season
