Welcome to Maplewood Career Center Adult Education!

Maplewood Career Center is approximately 217,000 square foot vocational facility located on approximately 100 acres.

The Adult Education Programs at Maplewood Career Center are state-supported post-secondary education programs. A certificate of completion is awarded to all students satisfactorily completing any program. Programs allow students to upgrade their skills in their present job, or prepare for a new career. Students obtain both theoretical knowledge and practical experience through “hands-on” experience in well-equipped laboratories. Over 60 percent of a student’s scheduled time is lab experience.

Our Mission Maplewood Career Center provides

individuals with educational experiences that aid in personal growth and the

development of career/technical skills leading to graduation, higher education, and/or

employment.

The Adult Education program shall assist individuals and companies in the efforts to

develop leadership, build new skills, upgrade skills, keep abreast of technologies,

and to develop competencies in areas of need and workforce

development and personal interest.

MODULE INDUSTRIAL MAINTENANCEEach MOD includes computer simulation, hands on training systems. ASPIRE ProgramASPIRE provides adult workforce readiness education for persons 16 years of age and over who are out of school by: increasing basic education skills, offering high school equivalency test prep (GED/HSE), preparing for certification testing, increasing employability skills, learning English as a second language, or organizing to enter post-secondary education. Locations are in Portage County in the morning, afternoon, and evening with materials and classes free-of-charge. Aspire also welcomes volunteer tutors. Students may pay online, in person, over the phone or by mail. Companies/Agencies must make a payment ten days prior to the course start date if paying for a student as a Third Party.

Deadlines and Late Registration: The deadline to register and pay for a course is 7 days prior to the course start date. Late registration is only available for some courses, so please contact the Career Center for more information.

Withdrawal Policy: If an applicant/student cancels, withdraws, or is dismissed by the school for any reason, refunds will be made according to the schools refund policy. A $25.00 withdrawal fee will be charged for course withdrawals. Full tuition minus the $25.00 withdrawal fee will be refunded only if written notice is received within three (3) business days of the program beginning. For specific details of the refund policy, see the Student Catalog.

Returned Checks: (Board Policy 6151: Bad Checks) When the district receives a check from a student that, when deposited, is returned marked “insufficient funds,” the Treasurer shall provide an opportunity for the payer to make proper payment or to arrange a satisfactory payment schedule. If payment is not received within 30 days, the payment schedule is not adhered to, or the monies do not appear to be collectible, the Board of Education authorizes the Treasurer to remove the fee or charge from the District’s Accounts Receivable to take appropriate action against the student.

Senior Citizens: People 60 years of age or older qualify for a 10 percent discount on all courses (Max $200). Can only be applied to short term programs. A copy of ID is required at time of registration to receive this discount.

Cancellation of Classes: The Adult Workforce Development of MCC reserves the right to cancel, postpone, discontinue or combine classes before or during classes. Classes must be canceled if they do not meet a required minimum enrollment, which is different for each course. If a class is canceled for any of the above reasons, the student will receive a full refund. Attempts are made to contact students about class cancellations. To avoid class cancellations, please register at least 7 days before the start date of the course.

Class Confirmation: You may assume that your class will be held unless you are notified that it has been canceled.
