Target groups for the Advanced Diploma of Business are those who are: • Seeking to pursue a career as a manager • Seeking to enter a new industry sector • Seeking a pathway to higher education qualifications. Students will usually be new entrants. However, credit and/or RPL can be provided for those with existing skills and knowledge allowing such students to complete the course in a shorter timeframe. This qualification will be delivered in the classroom at Level 1 and 4, 95 Bathurst Street, Sydney NSW 2000. This qualification will be delivered over 78 weeks, including six terms of 10 weeks each and 18 weeks of holidays. Students who complete this course may be able to seek employment in a range of business management roles. Such as • Executive Officer • Program Consultant • Program Coordinator Students who complete this course may wish to further their study into a range of higher education qualifications in accounting or business or management. The Advanced Diploma of Business requires the completion of 8 elective units. International students must be at least 18 years of age and must have completed at least the equivalent of Year 12.

These students must also have an IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent (test results must be no more than 2 years old).

International Students may not be required to provide evidence of English Language competence where documented evidence can be provided to demonstrate any of the following:

• the student was educated for 5 years in an English speaking country.

• the student has completed at least 6 months of a Certificate IV level course in an Australian RTO.

• the student has successfully completed a foundation course in Australia

• the student has successfully completed the College English Placement Test.

• the student has successfully completed their High School in English Language.

International students must also:

• Complete an LLN assessment to demonstrate that they have su�cient LLN skills to complete the course. Southern Academy of Business and Technology will administer a LLN assessment.

• Have a suitable level of digital literacy skills as demonstrated through undertaking an online test at http://www.digitalliteracy.eu/ - a minimum score of 60% is required.

International students will also need to apply for and gain visa 500 in order to enroll in the course.

Course duration is 52 weeks, including four terms of 10 weeks each and 12 weeks of holidays.

Total classroom hours are 20 hours per week. Two shift options are available:

Shift 2 - Monday to Friday 12.30 pm – 4.45 pm.

Shift 3 – Monday to Friday 5.15 pm to 9.30 pm.

Homework is approximately 2 hours a week

Sessions are held in fully equipped classrooms and a simulated work environment. Students will need to have their own laptop that includes Microsoft O�ce or similar installed. Laptops must be fully charged and students must also bring a USB flash drive.

Students will be provided with textbooks for learning and activities and will have access to Southern Academy of Business and Technology library resources. All textbooks are provided as part of the course fees.

All students will be provided with a range of learning support options and resources to help them achieve competency. This may include:

• Mentoring from trainers.

• Additional classes, tutorials and workshops.

• Online support and exercises for some courses.

• Computer and technology support.

• Referral to external support services.

Southern Academy of Business and Technology will provide additional support for any students experiencing:

• Disability and access issues;

• Language barriers;

• Language, literacy and numeracy issues;

• Employment issues; and/or

• Any other issues that may a�ect their ability to achieve their training goals.

Provision of additional support services will be provided where necessary to enable students to participate in the same way as any other person regardless of whether support services have been required.

Where there is perceived di�culty in achieving learning goals, the trainer will discuss these issues with the student. The student will be provided with information about possible alternative pathways, additional tools and resources available, and options and choices for accessing a supportive network. The information provided will vary depending on the individual needs of the student.

Note that for international students satisfactory course progress is required in order to meet visa requirements. More information can be found in the International Student Handbook that also includes information on the specific support that is available to international students. Students who are identified as being at risk of not meeting course progress requirements will be provided with additional support as recorded in an intervention strategy. Students are also required to maintain satisfactory attendance to meet their visa requirements.

Assessment methods used for this qualification will provide a range of ways for individuals to demonstrate that they have met the required outcomes including:• Projects • Presentations• Report writing• Observations• Questioning (oral or written)
