Advanced Graphic Engraving has prided itself on providing a variety of markets with their industrial engraving, signage, tagging, and impr int ing requirements . Every item we produce undergoes rigorous quality control inspection before it leaves our facility to ensure it meets customer specifications. In addition, Advanced Graphic Engraving utilizes custom written production tracking software to ensure on-time delivery for every order. LASER ETCHINGOne of the more recent developments in the world of engraving, laser etching is a technique used to leave permanent marks on an object through the use of a very precise laser beam. The technique does not involve the use of inks, nor does it involve tool bits which wear out over time through contact with substrate surfaces. Marks can include chemical/molecular alteration, charring, foaming, melting, ablation, vaporizing, and more. This technique is best applied to stainless steel instrument, valve, and cable marking tags. However, it can also be used effectively on larger formats for control panel graphics, signage, safety signs, and multiple substrates.

ACID ETCHINGA process in which a strong acid or other chemical is used to cut a design into the unprotected parts of a metal surface. This process is best applied to durable metal substrates such as stainless steel, aluminum, or brass. Acid etched items like machinery data tags, nameplates, logo tags, and corporate identity plates have been tested and are suitable for the harshest environments.

ROTARY ENGRAVINGThis engraving process is done with a rotating cutting tool in a motorized spindle. The tool cuts into the surface of the material to a preset depth and produces a groove of the same shape and dimension of the cutter. This method is effective for many of the same items as laser etching, but it has also proven useful specifically for stainless steel plates and tags placed in harsh environments.

SCREEN PRINTINGAlso known as silk-screen or serigraphy, screen printing is a versatile method of printing that is commonly used on metals, plastics, and vinyl. Using a thin screen that serves as a stencil, ink is applied directly to a substrate. Each color used on the substrate requires its own screen, and the image is laid down in layers. Once the ink is pushed through the screen onto the substrate material, it is cured using a heated dryer.

SUBLIMATIONTo create a sublimated image, sublimation dyes are printed onto a transfer medium—a special sublimation paper—with a specially prepared inkjet printer. The dyes are then transferred from the medium to an object or garment under the pressure and temperature of a commercial heat press. This process works best for applying full color graphics on light colored substrates such as aluminum, fiberglass reinforced plastic, ceramic, or fabric.

DIE CUT VINYLA machine with a small razor contour cuts into vinyl, while leaving the vinyl's backing paper intact. The excess vinyl is then removed by hand, a process called 'weeding'. Once the decal is weeded, it is then covered with an application tape which is used to install the decal. Though these vinyl sheets can only be cut in one color at a time, they can be virtually any shape, and are limited to 50 inches in width. Similar to digital vinyl prints, die cut vinyl is great for advertising and can be placed on surfaces such as windows, doors, and cars.

DIGITAL VINYL PRINTINGFull color artwork, with text and/or graphics, is processed by a computer. The computer then prints the image directly on a vinyl sticker or banner. Because these products are rendered by a printer, they are limited in width to 50 inches. Digital vinyl prints can be used for advertising, marketing, or information distribution.

DIGITAL FLATBED PRINTINGFlatbed printing is the reproduction of full color digital images using inkjet printing technology. The image is then transferred directly to the substrate, which is typically a type of plastic or paperboard. The most common use of flatbed printed items is signage—printed on plastic, thick vinyl, paper or photo-luminescent materials.

Wire & Hose MarkingOur wire and cable marking tags are designed to be mounted with two Ty-Wraps through four pre-manufactured holes. We carry the stainless steel Ty-Wraps needed to affix these. Dimensions of .75" x 3.5" x .010", these tags are large enough to read easily without being bulky. They are laser etched for a clean, high-contrast finish.

Aluminum Coated TagsFor a more flexible aluminum tag, we offer aluminum coated tags, which are very thin and can mold to nearly any surface. We can provide these tags in a light or heavy duty weight, with or without adhesive.

Vinyl CoatedA self-adhesive vinyl decal is laminated with a clear overlay, then rolled onto the aluminum to produce a high quality, full-color image. Great for signs of all sizes, these can be produced on sheets up to 48" x 144" and in thicknesses of .040", .060", and .080". Vinyl-coated aluminum signs are an economical option that is suitable for both interior and exterior use.

Laser EtchedIf you require low quantities of aluminum tags and plates, laser etched aluminum is to be considered. While laser etching cannot be done on traditional aluminum alone, it can be done on anodized aluminum, AlumaMark, and DuraBlack aluminum.

SublimationFor powerful, high definition text, graphics, and photographic images, we can sublimate on aluminum sheets up to 12" x 15" and in thicknesses of .020" and .030". The results are stunning, but currently only approved for indoor use.

AcrylicWe use high quality Rowmark engravable plastics that are UV stable and suitable for exterior use. These materials can be used to create interior signage, control panels, control system tags, and safety signage. Products can be either surface or reverse engraved, with a matte, glossy, or textured finish. They are available in most colors, and sized up to 24" x 48" at either 1/16" or 1/8" thickness. The shapes, corners, and mounting holes on the product are nearly limitless and customized to your specifications. This material can be rotary engraved or laser etched to your specifications. To mount your custom engraved product, we provide a 3M adhesive. This urethane foam tape is 1/32" thick and features a high-shear acrylic adhesive with a high temperature resistance for use in extreme conditions.

Phenolic/Lamacoid/TraffolyteThese materials are less frequently used. However, they can be manipulated in the same manner as acrylic. The terms 'phenolic', 'lamacoid', and 'traffolyte' are sometimes used generically to identify 'engraved tags'. True phenolic is very brittle—it flakes and scratches easily—and is not UV stable, making it unsuitable for external use.

Flatbed printing allows us to transfer full color images directly onto plastic materials. This process is ideal for fast production of high-quantity orders, and is also used frequently to create photo-luminescent signage. Plastics printed on a digital flatbed printer are rated for exterior use.

Screen Printed VinylMuch like the digital printing process, we can screen print on vinyl to create full color text and graphics on self-adhesive vinyl. The screen printing process is a quicker and less expensive way to produce large quantities of the same image. Decals can be produced on sheets or on rolls.

Die Cut Vinyl To create this decal, a one color text or graphic is razor cut from a solid sheet of vinyl. We offer a wide range of colors, and die cut vinyl is great for glass, doors, vehicles, and smooth solid walls where full color and large size are not required. Application instructions available upon request.

Our vinyl printer is also capable of images 50 inches wide and prints vibrant, custom images. We offer traditional lamination for durability. For the harshest environments we have a scratch-resistant lamination. Other capabilities include printing on banner material, clear vinyl, and we also offer fat-head and window cling options.

Digital Printed VinylWe can create brilliant, full-color digital images and text on self-adhesive vinyl, sized up to 50 inches x 50 yards. Our vinyl products can be used in interior and exterior settings; when used for exterior service, the product is laminated with a clear overlay to increase durability and longevity.

StencilsStencils can be used to transfer text, patterns, or images with crisp, clean lines. We carry single use self-adhesive vinyl stencils, as well as multiple use mylar, oil board, and plastic stencils for heavier duty projects.

OSHA SignsOSHA signage specifications apply to the design, application, and use of signs or symbols that indicate and define specific hazards that could harm workers or the public, or both. These generally consist of "DANGER", "CAUTION", "WARNING", and "BIOLOGICAL" signs. Also available are similar designed signs for communicating "NOTICE" instructions. OSHA type signage is available in self-adhesive flexible vinyl or rigid plastic that is suitable for exterior service.

Marine SignsOur photo-luminescent marine signs are available in self-adhesive flexible vinyl or rigid plastic. We specialize in the knowledge and expertise required to provide our customers with a superior, high quality signage system designed to comply and serve the requirements of the Marine Industry. This high performance signage utilizes proven materials which are designed to withstand the harsh marine environment, including winds in excess of 120 miles per hour. The photo-luminescent materials are comprised of patented pigments that are type-approved to meet the regulations set forth by IMO/SOLAS, APTA and ASTM.

Metal PhotoUsing anodized aluminum, the metal photo process yields highly durable tags and plates suitable for exterior and harsh environments. During printing, dye is permanently embedded into the pores of the aluminum for a long-lasting and resilient product. We can create barcodes and unique numbering systems, and we can format tags with square or round corners, punched holes, and adhesive backs. Metal photo tags come in black, gold, and silver with thicknesses of .020", .032", or .063".

ZincZinc plates feature a textured painted background with a silver, gold, or copper surface. The surface is etched for exterior signage and plaques, creating a contrast between the background and the metallic surface. These plates are available in .064", .125”, and .153" thickness.

MagnesiumMagnesium plates feature a textured background with a silver, gold, or copper surface. The surface is etched, creating a contrast between the text and the metallic surface. These plates are available in .064", .118", .153”, and .250" thickness, and only for use on interior surfaces.

BrassBrass plates can be screen printed or acid etched and are available in thicknesses of .020", .040", .062", and .125". Brass can be rotary engraved for use as valve and instrument tags. Also available in copper and nickel silver finishes.

TagsWe stock tags in multiple colors and sizes. We offer grommets and wire ties to your specifications.

Tyvek Tags are made of a durable spun-bonded olefin material, which can be supplied blank or printed to any color. They are tear-proof and weatherproof, making them suitable for exterior use in temperatures not to exceed 140°F.

Vinyl Tags are made of a durable, thick 0.15mm matte, vinyl plastic. They are tear-proof, oil-proof, and weather-proof, making them suitable for outdoor use or manufacturing environments in which temperatures remain between -20 to 175°F. Fluorescent colors are also available.

Cardstock Tags are made from thick cardstock for indoor use. They are an economical and convenient way to label equipment and/or areas of your facility. We can handle your printing needs in-house, or we can ship the tags blank. Hole reinforcements are available.
