Dear Cornerstone Community,

Recently I had the pleasure of attending a CESA (Council on Educational Standards and Accountability) conference in Washington D.C. I must admit I am a bit of a homebody and do not relish the thought of being away from my family and school responsibilities. However, distance always creates a heightened sense of appreciation for those individuals in one’s life.

Cornerstone is special. We are truly blessed with amazing teachers, staff and families. Each year we continue to stretch our budget in order to offer additional programs. I should not be surprised anymore, but nevertheless I’m always nervous when we step out on faith. Yet, each year the Lord continues to meet the school’s needs. We are not perfect by any means, but the Lord continues to bless our efforts. I am humbled to be woven into the Cornerstone community.

Your generosity through your annual giving, capital campaign sacrificial gifts and thousands of volunteer hours is making it so clear that all of you value a Christian education, and value seeing a school like Cornerstone thrive and grow in this community. The 16th Cornerstone Christian Academy Golf Tournament was held on April 29, 2019, at Laurel Springs Golf Club. Sixty players hit the course to help raise nearly $14,000 for the school. Each participating player received tee gifts and a Cornerstone golf shirt as well as food and beverages on the course. After play was completed, a reception was held in the clubhouse to award prizes to the first, second and third place teams, those with the longest drive, and closest to the pin contest winners. Thank you to all who participated, and we look forward to the 2021 tournament.

The success of the event depends largely on the generosity of our sponsors, and we appreciate their desire to contribute to Cornerstone.

Parent Teacher FellowshipCornerstone’s Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF) serves to organize and implement our major events and to manage parent groups, like Room Moms, DADS Club, and Stage Hands. The PTF is run by a board whose members each serve a two year term. One of the primary goals of the organization is to build community within our school family. Working side by side in service, parents develop relationships and become more invested in our school.

Georgia Educational Tax Credit Program - 2019 The state of Georgia has allowed for the redirection of up to $2,500 of state income tax liability to a qualified student scholarship program for the purpose of needs based financial aid. Georgia “C" corporations can contribute up to 75% of their corporate tax liability. Members of limited liability companies, shareholders of “S” corporations, and partners in partnerships are allowed a Georgia income tax credit for up to $10,000 of the amount they contribute to a student scholarship organization.

Cornerstone participates with the student scholarship program known as Georgia GOAL. The redirected funds are sent to Cornerstone to provide financial assistance to applicants and students of the School.

We would like to thank Cornerstone parents, grandparents, faculty and friends for their participation and support through the GOAL program, making it possible for us to provide financial aid to students whom we might otherwise have not been able to serve.

Endowed Funds Katie Trapani Scholarship Fund Established in 2017, the Katie Trapani Scholarship Fund provides financial aid to children or grandchildren of Cornerstone employees that would otherwise not be able to afford a school like Cornerstone. This fund was established by countless individuals in memory of Katie Trapani, affectionately known as “Mama T.” Katie taught in a variety of capacities at Cornerstone, but is most remembered as a remarkable teacher who made history come alive through live simulations. She left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered. She loved others well and her memory will live on in the lives of her “muffins” and colleagues.

Firm Foundation Endowment Fund Established in 2019, the Firm Foundation Endowment Fund provides financial aid to students who would otherwise not be able to attend a school like Cornerstone. The fund was established by a family who would like to remain anonymous. They were amazingly blessed by Cornerstone and their hope is that others could share in the same blessing. All unrestricted financial aid donations are placed in this fund and are shown in the Capital Campaign section of the Advancement Report.
