ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Chicago e-Quarterly No. 3 / 2014 Dear Partners and Friends of ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Chicago, Having just recently arrived in Chicago and having had the opportunity to meet quite a few of you already, let me say how very happy I am to be here starting my new position as Austrian Trade Commissioner in Chicago. The Midwest is a very important region for Austrian companies, not only because it is the manufacturing hub of the United States. O'Hare Airport with its daily flights directly to Vienna as well as excellent railroad and expressway infrastructure play an important role in Austrian firms' decisions as to where they will expand their operations. We will continue our efforts to forge new relationships between Austria and the Midwest. We have some exciting events on the horizon: FMMI, the Association of the Austrian MACHINERY & METALWARE Industries, will be representing its 1,200 member companies employing over 160,000 people at the IMTS International Manufacturing Technology Show taking place in September in Chicago. And Austria will be hosting a pavilion at the GREENBUILD International Conference and Expo 2014 in October in New Orleans, where the latest technologies and innovations in the field of sustainable and greenbuilding construction will be showcased.

Dear Partners and Friends of ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Chicago, Having just recently arrived in Chicago and having had the opportunity to meet quite a few of you already, let me say how very happy I am to be here starting my new position as Austrian Trade Commissioner in Chicago.
