PARISH NEWSFrom Our Pas tor…”And coming to her, he said, "Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with you." But she was greatly troubled at what was said and

pondered what sort of greeting this might be. Then the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.” What should give us peace this Christmas (and always)? Knowing that the Lord is with us. With that awareness, with that knowledge, we should never have a reason to be ‘afraid’ or distressed. This Christmas, may you know the peace of Christ deep in your heart. Hail, full of grace. The Lord is with YOU.

…This Christmas you and your goodness have brought comfort and peace for so many, many people. Thank you so much for your support for all our efforts to care for those who struggle and are in need. I am writing this on Monday afternoon, a team of wonderful members just sorted through an additional 1,100 coats which are heading to the inner city on Tuesday afternoon. Your gently used coats, hats and gloves are going to be put to good use this winter for children and adults. It’s a great gift you give to them. You will blanket them with warmth and protection from the weather. Even more, you will give them the assurance that they are not

alone. In the name of the Lord, you are with them. God bless you abundantly.

…Many thanks to Janet Majka and her team for an amazing Living Nativity last Sunday night. Many of you commented on the picture of our seminarian Josh getting a kiss from the camel! It was a perfect family night. All of our Advent/Christmas events have been well-done, well-attended, and a great blessing for our community.

…Our Community Meal this past Sunday broke a record (which is as good as it is bad) as they served 400 people. Over 290 meals were delivered to homebound in our community. It was a great blessing to so many.

…Many of our members had the opportunity to meet Norbert Koehn last Sunday at Coffee and Doughnuts. Norbert was amazed at both the crowds and the great energy and interest around the work he will do for our community. Our Vision 20/20 team has selected him to be our liturgical consultant/designer for some new liturgical art for the Church (Mary Statue, Altar, Crucifix, Stations of the Cross). You can find a link to some pictures of his work on our website at: www.StAmbrose.us/vision2020.

…Bishop Perez was so complimentary about his visit to Saint Ambrose. He said he could sense that this was a wonderful community from the moment he arrived. You could feel the

goodness and energy. Thanks to Matt Fodor and Helen Lanzarotta for a beautiful Mass. Thanks to Jane Baldwin and her team for an incredible reception.

…Christmas Eve and Day will bring many guests and visitors to Church. Thanks be to God! Let’s work together to make everyone feel welcome and ‘at peace’ when they are with us. This will help all of us have a joyous celebration of Christmas. We will have off-duty police to assist in parking.

…Many of you have commented how much you have appreciated the ‘gift box’ that has reminded all of us of the gift of peace we need and should give this Christmas. The display comes as a gift to our community from some of the good friends who help us with The FEST.

…Your 2018 calendar should have arrived this past week. Many thanks to our community partners for making this special gift possible for all of us. Enjoy!!

…As we bring this Advent Season to a close, my prayer each day has been for the gift of God’s peace. In these days, may God grant you and your loved ones the gift of true peace….a peace that comes from knowing that the Lord is with you now and always. Blessed Christmas.
