HARNESSING HOPE & CHALLENGING YOUR FEARS Our aim is to provide every child or adult, regardless of their abilities, the opportunity to experience the thrill of the High Ropes. Children and adults with a physical disability or mental illness often find themselves excluded from climbing activities.

However, meeting with people in a challenging and exciting environment, completing tasks and sharing the experience together is a fundamental way of promoting mutual understanding and respect between people.

With this in mind, we have specially developed a new addition to our programme of activities, a Universal Access Course which is one of the very few Australia wide.

The aim of the course is to provide stimulation and exhilaration for individuals or groups who are capable of moving independently without aid or who rely on wheelchairs but are still able to take part in ropes activities. Safety is our priority and individuals are connected to the course with a continuous belay system which can allow them to manoeuvre around the elements in safety.

Our instructors and assistants are on hand to support and encourage where necessary and ensure that each individual can strive to meet the challenges of the course and have fun at the same time.

ADVENTURE & GREAT FOOD THE PERFECT COMBO

In 2015 we partnered up with Max Employment and Employment Plus to create a group project where long term unemployed people could come and work together to create a Kitchen Garden. Where we could teach children how we could grow vegetables and fruit, how we could recycle our waste and most importantly… how much fun we could have in a garden.

We built garden beds, some traditional and some self-watering plus a large chicken coop to house a family of chickens. Over the following months we planted a forest of fruit trees, some herbs and vegetables and built some garden furniture using recycled material and unusual containers to grow plants.

In January 2017 we welcomed a new family of rescued chickens; the chickens had been living in commercial cages but now they can enjoy the freedom of grassy outdoors. Over time we have added to the coop a variety of chicken and duck breeds. They love having visitors so be sure to stop by and say hi! We hope over the coming years our garden can inspire children and adults to create their own special garden at home. We offer a fun filled ‘Little Sprouts’ Kitchen Garden program, ideal for pre-primary and primary school children to come and have hands on experience with nature.

In addition to the broad range of sizes, each of the rooms offered can be customised with the table and chair configuration that best suits your objectives.

AVAILABLE ON-SITE

We have all the additional equipment and accessories to make planning, organising and running a successful conference as easy as possible.

We held our scientific staff retreat at the

Swan Valley Adventure Centre, for 115 people. I cannot speak highly

enough of the staff and the venue - and the food! The service provided by all staff

was exceptional, from the planning stages to the onsite management, nothing was too hard or too difficult to accommodate for us. The accommodation was clean and well laid out and very much suited our group. The food was fantastic, both in terms of quality and quantity

(and catering for those with special dietary needs). All of our staff loved the setting

and are keen to go back for our next retreat.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Where are you?

We are located only 30 mins from Perth on the Swan River with access from Ried Hwy.

2. Does it matter what time we arrive?

Our camp houses are guaranteed to be ready by 3pm on the day of your arrival. If you are planning to arrive earlier, we can store your luggage until the camp house is ready. To ensure we can get the camp house ready for the next group we kindly ask that you vacate the house by 10am on the day of your departure. If you are leaving later in the day we can store your luggage until then.

3. Do we need to bring our own bedding?

No, if you have provided us with a bedding plan, we will make up all the beds for you. We provide all the linen, pillows, comforters etc. but you will need to bring your own towel. This means when you arrive you can drop your gear and get straight to the fun stuff!

4. What clothes do we need to bring?

It depends on how long you stay and if you are taking part in our activities. We have a general list on our website to help you or you can give us a call and we will be happy to guide you.

5. What meals do you serve?

We can look after all your meals from breakfast through to lunch and dinner and even supper if you choose. Everyone loves our chef’s cooking, there’s plenty to choose from and some produce is from our own “Little Sprouts Garden”.

6. Can we bring our own food?

Sorry but our houses are not equipped for self-catering. There are limited facilities in each house allowing you to make snacks, tea or coffee etc.

7. What if someone has a dietary condition?

As long as we are made aware of any medical dietary conditions prior to your arrival we can organise alternatives for the individuals. We don’t mind if you just don’t like certain food items, it’s just a matter of not choosing them on the day…there are plenty of options to choose from so we don’t need to cater separately for these.

8. Will we be the only clients on site?

Not necessarily as we have our Adventure Centre plus camp accommodation for 300 people. If you do require exclusivity, we may be able to arrange that for you but additional costs will apply.

9. We’re not sure what activities we can do…can you help us?

Of course we can. Have a look on our website which shows all the activities available then contact us and our staff can help you organise a programme of activities to suit your group and your budget.

10. Are the adventure activities fully supervised?

All our official activities are supervised by SVAC Instructors who have appropriate qualifications, Police Clearances and Working with Children checks. If you wish to run your own activities outside the SVAC ones, e.g. ball games on the oval, we will require you to provide your own Public Liability Insurance and supervise the activity yourselves. If you would like another company to run an activity, e.g. Inflatable Sumo suits, then the activity has to be preapproved by SVAC management. The company running the activity is also required to provide SVAC management with their Insurance Certificate of Currency for that activity prior to the activity being approved.

11. Can we use any of the areas around the site?

We have lots of wooded areas around the property with native flora and fauna. There is also Jane Brook and the Swan River for you to walk around. If you want to use any of the public areas around the site for group meetings or activities, please let us know and we can book the area for you...…we don’t want you to be disappointed if someone else is using it.

12. Do you have Public Liability?

Of course…if you require a copy please let us know and we can send it to you.

13. What do we do if it’s raining?

All of our activities can be run in wet weather however if there is a threat of lightening or thunderstorms then we can provide alternative activities until the weather improves. Some of our activities are more fun if it’s wet!

14. Do you have risk assessments available?

Yes, these are available on our website to download www.swanvalleyadventurecentre.org

15. What if I need assistance during my visit?

Our office is open from 8.30am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday. We will provide the group supervisor with the phone number of our onsite Duty Manager, in case of an emergency.
