Two Industry Liaison Managers focus on increasing internships and placements, and developing strong links with industry

Deferred ExamsDefinitionStudents who are unable to write one or more final examinations due to extenuating circumstances (circumstances beyond a student’s control) such as serious illness, family affliction, fire, severe emotional stress may receive permission to defer their final exam.

Application Procedure

•All requests to defer a final exam must be submitted online through MINERVA, no later than one week after the missed exam.

•Supporting documentation must be submitted to the McGill Engineering Student Centre, Frank Dawson Adams Bldg., room 22 within one week of the missed exam.

Supplemental Exams (Non-Engineering Courses Only)

DefinitionStudents in satisfactory or probationary standing may be permitted to write a supplemental

exam for courses which they've received a mark of D, F, J or U.

Eligible CoursesCHEM 110, CHEM 120, CHEM, 212, CHEM 234, COMP 202, MATH 133, MATH 140, MATH 141,

PHYS 131, PHYS 142, and other courses administered by the Faculty of Science, as well as courses administered by the Faculty of Arts (ex. some complementary studies courses - impact of technology on society courses, humanities and social sciences courses etc.)

Academic Standing DecisionsIn the Faculty of Engineering, a decision on the student's academic standing is determined on the basis of CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) at the end of each term.

Fall Term Standing DecisionsSatisfactory: •CGPA equal to 2.00 or greater (≥2.00) Probationary: •CGPA less than 2.0 (< 2.0) and equal to or greater than 1.20 (≥ 1.20) or•TGPA equal to or greater than 2.50 (≥ 2.50) and a CGPA of less than 2.0 (<2.0).•Reduce credit load to a maximum of 13 credits per term. Must achieve either a CGPA of 2.00 or better, or a TGPA of 2.50 or better in order to continue. Interim Unsatisfactory (Fall Term ONLY)• CGPA less than 1.20 (< 1.20) or •TGPA falls below 2.50 (< 2.50) and your CGPA is below 2.00 (<2.00)•Reduce credit load to a maximum of 13 credits per term.
