Adviso Circular AC20-2 Acceptability of Parts & Reporting Suspected Unapproved Parts to CASA PNG GENERAL Issue 1 28 Feb 2014 Civil Aviation Authority Adviso Circulars (AC) contain information about standards, practices and procedures that the Director has found to be an Acceptable Means of Compliance (AMC) with the associated rule. An AMC is not intended to be the only means of compliance with a rule, and consideration will be given to other methods of compliance that may be presented to the Director. When new standards, practices or procedures are found to be acceptable, they will be added to the appropriate Advisory Circular. This Adviso Circular also includes Explanatory Material (EM) where it has been shown that further explanation is required. Explanatory Material must not be regarded as an acceptable means of compliance. PURPOSE This Advisory Circular provides methods, acceptable to the Director, for showing compliance with Part 21 Subpart I and Part 43 Subpart B relating to the use of acceptable parts on type certificated aircraft. Furthermore, i t provides updated information and guidance to the PNG aviation industry for detecting suspected unapproved parts (SUPs) and more importantly reporting them to the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Papua New Guinea. Appendix 1 to this AC contains form CAA 21-08- Suspected Unapproved Parts Report (SUP Report) which serves as a standardized means of reporting. GENERAL

Civil Aviation Authority Advisory Circulars (AC) contain information about standards, practices and procedures that the Director has found to be an Acceptable Means of Compliance (AMC) with the associated rule.

An AMC is not intended to be the only means of compliance with a rule, and consideration will be given to other methods of compliance that may be presented to the Director. When new standards, practices or procedures are found to be acceptable, they will be added to the appropriate Advisory Circular.
