About the Department of Pharmacy

Department of Pharmacy was established in the year 1964 and is approved by Pharmacy Council of lndia, New Delhi and AICTE. Department has highly qualified, committed and motivated faculty, well equipped laboratories with spacious infrastructure. Department regularly conducts seminars, workshops and short term courses in specific areas of Pharmacy for the benefit of the student s, academicians and working professionals. Department of Pharmacy is aiming to train students with high degree of professional skills, with special sensitivity to ethical and moral concerns, comprehensive knowledge in pharmacy and health care.

Health care has been changing rapidly, and the role of the pharmacist has changed with it. Pharmacists are on the front lines of health care as medicines revolutionize the way we treat and manage diseases and other conditions. As the number of powerful and complex medications available increases, physicians and patients increasingly turn to pharmacists as the drug-information experts. Pharmacists provide an array of health-care services, including counseling patients and working closely with physicians to manage patient care.

Analysis of the health care and education environment for health care, the profession outlined and approved a new mission for pharmaceutical education encompassing the following key elements: • To prepare students to function

as health care professionals and informed citizens in a changing health care system.

• To encourage students with the values necessary to serve society as caring, ethical, learning professionals and enlightened citizens.

• To encourage students to take active roles in shaping the policies, practices, and future directions of the profession.

Topic for Paper Presentation

“Pharmacist: A health care professionals”

1. Only final year students of institutes will be allowed to participate in the event.

2. Only one entry from each institute will be accepted.

3. The invited technical paper should be in following format; Font: Times new Roman Title: should be self explanatory, in title case with font 14, bold letters, Center alignment. Name of author and co-authors: First name, initial of middle name and surname with font size 12, bold at Center alignment. The presenting author should be underlined. Affiliation: Include the name of institute with city, state with code and email address of presenting author. Font size 10,italic with Center alignment. Abstract: Abstract word should be capital with font size 12, left alignment. Abstract body should be font size 12, justified, double spaced, not exceeding 250 words. This document should be saved with surname of presenting author followed by institute code e.g. Patil_institute code). Abstract along with duly filled registration form should be mailed to gppharmjal@rediffmail.com on or before 05th February 2014.

4. The student authors will deliver a seminar on topic for a maximum of 10 minutes. (Power point presentation)

5. Travelling expenses will be given to participant students only.

6. Travelling expenses limited to ST bus (Excluding ASIAD or LUXURY BUSES) or Railway IInd class sleeper fare will be paid to the students. Last Date for Entry & Abstract submission : February 5. 2014
