Xavier High School A & E 12 Brandon Gradoville ‘13 Brandon Gradoville is a senior this year: what do you know about him? Who’s in the hallway? Lauren Van Hoeck A&E Writer Brandon is involved in track, cross country, ultimate frisbee club, and IBA. His favorite food is pasta, especially at team dinners. His favorite music to listen to is electronic. His favorite TV show is How I Met Your Mother and his favorite movie is Gladiator. When not in school, you can find Brandon at Chase Stevenson’s house hanging with him and Tom Steinberg. Pitch Perfect strikes a chord When I first heard the voices singing Rihanna’s “Don’t Stop the Music”, I instantly fell in love with Pitch Perfect. The rest of the movie followed suit with popular songs like Jessie J’s “Price Tag” and Flo Rida’s “Right Round,” as well as some 80’s songs like Pat Benatar’s “Hit Me with Your Best Shot” and Toni Basil’s “Mickey.” The songs were a good choice because many people will know them. More impressively, the vocals were all sung a capella. There is no part in the movie that will not make you laugh. One character, Fat Amy (played by Rebel Wilson) really puts emotions behind her humorous lines. The humor is easy to find and the whole theatre will burst out laughing. Pitch Perfect is definitely a heart- warming, good-feeling movie, and will leave you with a good laugh. The movie is about Beca (played by Anna Kendrick), a girl who wants to be a DJ in Los Angeles, but is forced to attend the university where her father teaches. She is recruited to the Bellas, a female a capella group, and gives them a new face. The Bellas compete against the all male a capella group, Treblemakers. The movie was directed by Jason Moore and written by Kay Cannon. The lead actors are Brittany Snow (Chloe), Skylar Astin (Jesse), and Anna Camp (Aubrey). Rebel Wilson , known for her role in Bridesmaids, did an outstanding job and was the comedy relief in the movie. Pitch Perfect is rated PG-13. Overall, I give this movie 5 stars. The music is great and the vocals are impressive because they are sung in a capella, but you don’t have to be into music at all to enjoy Pitch Perfect. The movie had a good light- hearted story line that is for everyone. The movie is aimed more for teenagers, but adults would enjoy the movie and would appreciate the references to the movie The Breakfast Club, and some 80’s songs. If you are looking for a movie that keeps you laughing, Pitch Perfect is for you. Hannah Gibbs Opinion Writer BEST FRIENDS
